My milk arrived 9 days after laboring for 36 hours and an emergency C-section for my first LO. My NP says milk arrives faster after a scheduled C-section because it is usually less stress on your body.
How long did it take for your milk to come in?

Three days. I started pumping within hours of delivery though. LO was in NICU and I wanted to try to get the colostrum up to him.

7 days after my first Emergency C-section, and then 3 days after my second "emergency" c-section (went into labour 2 days before my scheduled c).

@bunnylove08: @septemberlove: I pumped last time throughout my hospital stay and nothing came out. I will try again this time..hopefully w/o the labor it will come in fast!

@autumnlove: did they set you up with a hospital pump? I think that's what did it for me. I also did skin to skin as much as I could.

Maybe 3-4 days? I did have problems with supply 2/2 to LO's tongue tie, but I think my milk came in at the normal time.

@septemberlove: Yes, I was using a hospital grade Ameda.

@autumnlove: hope it comes in faster this time, that must've been really stressful waiting 9 days

I had her on the Tuesday and it came in on the Saturday so four days.... we needed to supplement for one day but I think that was down to her latch more than anything else.

@septemberlove: Thanks! I was a wreck and I cried everyday.
It sounds like most of you waited 3-5 days...yay!

2-3 days. I had a c-section scheduled, but my water broke a few days before that...but I still wouldn't call it an emergency c-section. The nurses actually commented on how quickly my milk came in since I had had a c-section, and she started gaining weight before we were discharged.

I had a scheduled cesarean and mine came in on the fourth day - on the third day they had me pumping and feeding every hour on the hour alternating between the two and that seemed to help because on the fourth day my milk started to come in.

I labored for 35 hrs then went to emergency C-section and it took 4 days. Ugh I cant imagine 9. I thought 4 was brutal.
Will haver to follow this. Was told I am not a good candidate for a VBAC so next one will be scheduled.

@Rescuemom10: I just wanted to be alone the first two weeks! My MIL called or checked on me several times a day to ask ifmy milk was in yet. My mom was blaming my late milk arrival on me because I'm not religious.....it was a really stressful time!
I will let you know how it goes!

ETA: ACK so sorry i didn't realize this thread was asking specifically about planned c sections.**
i had a quick and 'easy' labour and delivery at 39 weeks and my milk kinda never properly came in. there was milk eventually, but never any engorgement or leaking (definitely a case of low supply!) and it took around 2 weeks to notice actual bits of milk. boo!! i ended up bfing for 7 months, but heavily supplemented with formula.
for this second pregnancy i'm gonna take fenugreek and domperidone and EVERYTHING and PUMP with my freestyle the second the baby is out! after some good old skin on skin, of course

I had an induction that ended in a C-section after about 18 hours. Delivered A Tuesday night, milk came in Sunday morning. It was a bit harrowing before that.

5 days. By day 3, my son was pissed! I sat in the shower and used a hand pump to try and get it going every chance I got. I cried (as did my kid) the entire 3rd and 4th day. I wish I had just supplemented, because I think I was stressing myself out and making it worse by starving him.
If we have another, I think I will bring my manual pump to the hospital and start on More Milk Plus immediately after birth. I cannot go through that again.

@autumnlove: no planned C here but second time around, my milk came in one day sooner than the first time! So that's working to your favor as well Cannot believe YOU ARE SO CLOSE
