DH let LO drink from his cup and now an open cup is all she wants for water. We've been letting her do it but it's been very..... wet. I only put a teeny amount of water in there and have to refill it a lot for her. The good thing is she hates being messy so she gets upset when she spills..... but the bad thing is she doesn't realize that her actions are causing the spill.

He mastered it right away, at 12 months of age. I happily skipped spouted sippy cups!
I have two recs for cups that control the flow, if you're interested. One is by Oxo Tot, and it has a lid with holes in it. The other is by Avent and it has a top that when you apply pressure with the top lip, liquid comes out.

It didn't take her very long. I've noticed that having her use a mug creates less of a mess. I was a little nervous about her dropping it at first but the weight of the mug actually provides more stability. It also keeps her from flinging it around.

My LO recently started to drink for a cup, but he often tilts too much and spills half his cup. I'm not ready for the transition so he is still drinking from a straw. He is 2 years old.

LO just turned 2 and now we're getting serious about drinking from an open cup. We let him have one here and there from 15 months but now that he's 2, i'm starting to buckle down. He's not great at it...I have to give him very little and keep refilling..and follow him around if he's not in his high chair.
