I had a vaginal birth 8 days ago and had more than one second degree tear internally (I didn't ask questions, so no idea how many tears or stitches). I feel okay some days, and like my vagina is going to fall off other days.
How long did you use the peri bottle, tucks pads, etc? Also if you had stitches, how long before they dissolved?

A few weeks? I never had a ton of pain there, but I think stopped the whole routine at 2 weeks or so and felt pretty normal. I had a decent tear that my OB described as like a natural episiotomy.

I felt "better" at 2 weeks pp, like I had turned a huge corner at 3 weeks, and now at 4 weeks pp, I feel 98%. I think I stopped using all my supplies right around 12 days pp. at my two week appointment I had to have some stitches cut out since I wasn't dissolving them on my own.
ETA: I still have some achiness now, but I can pretty much sit anywhere without pain, and I stopped taking the meds around 3 weeks pp.

I used the peri bottle and tucks pads for about 3 weeks? My stitches dissolved around 4 weeks. My episiotomy + 2nd degree tear didn't fully heal until around 8 weeks, though. My vag felt normal again around 3 months.

About 3-4 weeks until I felt fully better but even over a year later things are different.

I would say 3 weeks I felt normal. Still had some bleeding.

Probably a couple of weeks. I think I used the bottle for about that long as well as use the Tucks. I'm not sure when my stitches dissolved, but I can't imagine it took very long. At my 6 week pp appt, the nurse said everything was healing nicely.

I was lucky and didn't tear, just had a labial graze which had 2 stiches. I felt bruised for a week or so but felt pretty back to normal (apart from bleeding) by 2 weeks pp

probably like 6 months.
at first I thought that everything was all kinds of misshapen and I had a million stitches from my giant episiotomy. I didn't have an incontinence but I felt like I was going to pee my pants 24/7 which made it hard to exercise, dtd, run, dance, bike. I also had granulation tissue that I thought I was going to have to get lasered off but miraculously, after 6 months everything went back to completely normal, looks and feels like new.

I have a 3rd degree tear and while I am feeling better at 16 days out- I think it will still take awhile to feel normal again!

I felt pretty darn good about 10 days pp. A little ache here and there and a little itch sometimes (stitches are dissolving, yetch) but really not bad at all. I was walking around the hospital sans pain meds after day 3, though. Doc said my stitches will take 4 weeks to dissolve so they should be gone now

Okay, thanks ladies! I got brave and looked tonight, but all the damage was done internally so it wasn't too scary. Hopefully better days are right around the corner!

@MrsRoo: I didn't feel better until probably 10 weeks PP. I try to chime in on these threads to encourage mamas to go back to their OB if they think something is wrong! I waited too long when I was still in bad pain and ended up with emergency surgery to repair stitches that had ripped at 2 weeks PP... still felt awful after my second check up and it turns out I had granulation scar tissue. Once that was sliced off I (finally) felt back to normal.

3 months. I had only two very tiny tears, only one stitch. And that sucker bugged me for months. I felt sore and swollen for about a month, and then just wrong and weird and not perfect for another few after that. Like, I could feel my pelvis knitting back together, and it was kind of janky. One of the bones right behind my vagina wasn't quite right, and was sore whenever I leaned forward for a while. Lots of little junk like that.
It all went away, though, and is a distant memory at 19 months.

@scg00387: ouch! Thank you for the warning, I'll definitely keep tas on the pain and call my OB if I need to. I already endured 2 rounds of stitching at the hospital, I do not want to go through more!
