I just found out recently that my mother breastfed me for over 3 years! I had NO idea she breastfed for that long. She breastfed my middle sister around the same and apparently my youngest sister self-weaned at 2.5 years.
I'm not sure how I feel about BFing that long lol. I'd like to go to at least a year and then I guess I'll see how I feel after that.

My mom breastfed me for 6 months. She could've gone longer, but she had been forced to wean my older brother at 6 months when she got pregnant with me (at the time they thought it wasn't safe to breastfeed while pregnant) and she wanted to be "fair" so she weaned me at 6 months since that's how long she breastfed him, haha.

I think maybe 6 weeks, just on her maternity leave. I think she breastfed my brother a tiny bit longer, but only because she had a c section and slightly longer maternity leave.

I'm not sure the exact length, but it was a long time. She dried up when she got pregnant when I was 4 months. But once my brother was born, she tandem nursed us for a long time!

1 year. And she had to hand-pump when she went back to work...no electric pumps. Rockstar!

Never. She said she didn't even think about breastfeeding as it wasn't the norm where she was from at the time.

Not at all, my sister and I were FF. That's actually one of the reasons I'm hoping to not put too much pressure on myself when the time comes. I want to do my best to breastfeed, but if it doesn't work out, it's OK. We turned out just fine and healthy anyway

Never! She didn't even attempt to breastfeed my older sister or myself. 7 years after me she EP for 3 months while my little sister was in the NICU.

I just asked my mom this last week!
5 months for me - apparently I was a horrible nurser and she hated it
11 months for my sis, who self-weaned. My mom loved nursing her and wished sis hadn't quit

I don't really know but I think it was around 6 or 8 months. I grew up hearing that I was "breast-fed" and my brother was "formula-fed" but I'm pretty sure I wasn't exclusively breast-fed and I know she didn't make it to a year.

About 2 weeks. And she hated every minute of it and switched to formula and never looked back!

over a year. same for my brother, we're 18 months apart and she stopped nursing him shortly before i was born. neither of us ever had any formula and she used to donate to a milk bank.

4 months. Apparently, her mother told her she didn't have to any more, so she quit. She found out with later kids that longer was better, so the younger ones were breastfed longer.

I think me and my 2 sisters were all nursed for right around a year. But she only made it 6 weeks with my twin brothers. I think nursing twins was her own personal hell and she gave it up for her sanity.

Over a year. She says I had some food intolerances so I couldn't have formula and had a hard time starting solids, but I grew out of it a little after I turned one. She was a SAHM when I was a baby, so she was able to do it...by the time my brother was born, she was working and couldn't keep up breast feeding after her maternity leave was over because her employer was not supportive.

She didn't. I was a preemie and back then it wasn't the norm for mom's to pump while their babies were in the NICU.
