Typically how long does it take for you baby to be full from breastfeeding. My LO is 9 days old and if I bottle feed her she will be done in about 10-15 minutes, but if I breastfeed her she will stay on my breast 4ever! She gets sleepy and will suck a little, rest alittle suck a little more, its like she just wants to nurse forever. It makes it harder to tell whether she is full or not. And for this reason I kind of prefer feeding her pumped milk from a bottle because i know exactly how much she ate.

He can take down a bottle in less than 10 minutes, but will nurse for 40 min-1 hour. He's currently 12 days old, and feeds similarly to how your LO does. But yesterday and today he has seemed to cut down to 30-40 min, so maybe my supply is getting closer to what he needs, or at least he's getting more efficient.

LO used to be on my breast 24/7 too. Now she nurses really quickly and efficiently. 10-15 minutes tops (both sides)

In the beginning, I usually nursed for 30-45 minutes, and that was with me taking him off. He wanted to nurse all the time for the first 3 months, and I think that's very common. I got a lot of reading done. It's totally normal for babies to want to keep nursing for a long time, and it does not mean they are not getting enough.
Now, it's less than 5 minutes, at 6 months he'd rather be playing than nursing. -
My first wanted to nurse all the time. At 6 weeks she got a soother and that cut it down to a more managable level, Then at three months she was down to 10 minutes or so at a time.
This one is much more effecient and nurses for 5-20 minutes.
Don't worry, it seems like forever, but it's really not! And if you just pump you'll often lose your milk sooner.

For the first couple weeks I let him nurse as often as he wanted, as long as he wanted and I felt like I was nursing constantly, he was almost always on my breast but for the first month I made myself be totally okay with it because it's what he needed.

DD is about 2 months old now, and she still nurses forever. I feel like she is never getting full because she is there for so long! She will stop, so I take her off, and then she is frantic to nurse more. *sigh* I hope she gets a little more efficient soon!

@Mrsbells: Oh that is completely normal!! DD nursed for a longtime at first but by around 3-4 months she was a PRO! Now @ 12 months we are in the middle of weaning but she nurses only 5 minutes...really! 5 minutes! It gets much faster & easier, promise

They definitely get better at nursing as they get older.
Sucking down a bottle can be a problem because eventually they refuse the breast all together because it doesn't come out as fast. If you want to continue nursing I would be careful to not let LO drink the bottle too fast (use slowest flow nipple, feed upright, stop for lots of breaks, etc).

LO is on and off in about 15-20 minutes, usually falling asleep. Bottles takes about 10 mins.

Totally normal at first. I remember Ds nursing for 45 minutes every 1.5-2 hours! It does get easier and now at 12 months he nurses ~10 minutes total every 5ish hours. We aren't weaning yet and he isn't a good solids eater, but I'd imagine it would become even shorter when he is getting full elsewhere.
