My 3 wk old used to take 20 minutes each side but now she often only takes 10-15 minutes on just one side. At that point she usually stops swallowing and just uses me as a paci, which she could do all day if i let her. She usually screams and cries when we are done feeding though so I wonder if she's still hungry. She's gaining weight well so I know shes healthy. I just wonder if I should give her the other side too.

Is she nursing more often? Her change in behavior could be due to a growth spurt, which is common at 2-3 weeks.
My almost 6 week old has always been a fast nurser. Never more than 20 minutes from the get-go. Since my milk came in the usual length is 8-10 minutes, and always only on one side. The past few days she's been nursing for quite a bit longer, and sometimes on both sides. I think she's just started going through her 6 week growth spurt.

He is now nearly 4 mos and he takes about 10 minutes to nurse and only eats one side. But I do remember the days he would take up to 40 minutes to nurse ONE side. I never unlatched him unless he fell asleep.At her age it sounds pretty normal, though I never had my baby cry. Do you unlatch her or do you let her unlatch herself?
Maybe Cobi was just an exceptionally good baby, but he always unlatched himself.

LO will be 2 months tomorrow. She takes 10 minutes on one side. She used to take 20-45 minutes but is a pro now. She's faster than my pump.

@cocobee I usually unlatch her by 15-20 min because I can tell she's not eating, she's just using me as a paci and it starts to hurt.

My LO used to eat 25 minutes on each side, but now at almost 5 weeks she only eats 15 minutes on one side.

She's used to take about 45 min, now at 8 weeks she takes 10-15 minutes most of the time. It's so much better now that she's faster. She's always taken both breasts though. It'd be nice if she would just take one so I could pump the other and get a little stash going.

DS has almost always only nursed for 10-15 minutes and only one side. He is one month old.

Sawyer is 7 weeks old, since about week 2 he has nursed for 5-7 minutes on 1 side only. During the 6 week growth spurt though he occasionally nursed for 5-7 minutes per side.

Btw reading this thread makes me feel mug better whenever I tell people Tyler only feeds for 10 mins they act like I'm under feeding him!!
