Since going off the naptime bottle, it takes 20-35 mins on average for him to fall asleep regardless of when I put my 15 mo old down. Good times!

That sounds like bedtime for us. Naps are easy though, 5 minutes and she is out.

Um i still rock to sleep at 20 months becuase it takes less than five minutes. When i left her with dh recently however she was not having it and flat out refused completely!

We are the same as @Freckles. Naps are 5 minutes max but bedtime is up to 30 minutes of mucking...most of the time it's 15-ish. The other night he played with his belly button for a good 10 minutes.

@Sammyfab: ok, i totally laughed out loud at the belly button comment because my LO does that all the time.

10 minutes - never. If it's taking longer than 30 minutes she usually gets a second wind and just starts playing and stays up. Brutal.

@MamaCate: Me too! (Ours is 17 months.) I want to stop, but it's the only way we can do naps without a colossal fight. Occassionally I try to just put DD down in her bed for naps like we do for bedtime, and she immediately hops up and laughs hysterically at me. She'll keep laughing after I leave her room for a few minutes, and then once she figures out I'm not coming back she starts screaming. She does not fall asleep at all... so back to rocking we go...

@skibobrown: Glad I am not the only one! I am gradually tiptoeing into trying to break the habit for night time but we are at the early stages, and I haven't even thought about naps yet!
My LO has never fallen asleep on her own that I can think of so I know it is going to be a pain...

We are a little short of toddlerhood at eleven months but at home it takes usually 30 min, sometimes 45-1 hr! Or in the car! On this trip were on, she needs to be held or driven or falls asleep having a bottle. We're gonna work on it when she recovers fully from her cold and we get back from our trip.

Usually he falls asleep very quickly, at least, I assume so since we don't have a monitor. However, it took 1.5 hours! This is *highly* unusual and I just waited it out.
He's 2.5.

@MamaCate: @skibobrown: if I try to rock him down he just laughs and tries to stand and smacks my face. I would live to rock!!

5-15 minutes for my 19 month old. I sit beside his bed and hold his hand or pat his bottom.

@winniebee: oh no! I am so sorry! For us I am glad to have such an easy go to method but she is getting so big that I feel like we will need a new plan soon!

Like 5 minutes. He pretty much walks me to the crib when he want to take a nap, though, so he obviously knows he's ready.

It varies, sometimes 5 min, sometimes 30-40 minutes. If I take him to the Y or the playground and let him run and play in the morning, it's usually faster than if we just stay home.
At night, it's usually within 15 minutes that he's out.

@Freckles: oh geez! What is up with their obsession with belly buttons? I had to pack away our onesies months ago because he'd get frustrated that he couldn't pull his shirt up!

@winniebee: We get some of that too! ...but usually DD is so exhausted by nap time that she can't resist a little rocking. She has never been a good napper though.
