Baby A used to take 30-40 minutes, but at 8 weeks, she's averaging 12-15 minutes or so. However, sometimes she has a particularly long session - 25-30 minutes. It generally happens at night or first thing in the morning (which makes sense), but not always. How long does your LO take? Do you ever see big variation?

When my LO was a newborn we had lots of marathon sessions, like 30+ minutes on average. I remember that around 3 months she started getting more efficient and the sessions dropped to closer to 15 minutes, which was nice. The evening before bed session was always the longest as she was sleepy and took her time, so that was often 30 minutes or more if I let her.

lo is 6 months and when i tied it a few weeks ago it took 11 minutes. first and last feeds of the day are always the longest.

Usually about 10 minutes, maybe 15-20 in the morning, when I'm full and he's been asleep for several hours.

My lo is 13 weeks now, but I noticed the same switch when she turned about 8 weeks! Unless she's tired, our sessions are only around 10-15 minutes. It worried me at first, but now I'm loving it

My dude took 30-45+ minutes every time when he was a newborn. Now he's 7 months and they are around 10 min, maybe 15 for his first feed of the morning. He will keep suckling for as long as I'll let him, but he's always done actually eating within 10-15 min
I don't remember when they changed, maybe 2 months or so?

Until about 8 weeks she ate one side per feeding for 7-10 minutes. After that she started eating from both sides for about 10 minutes each.

At 19 weeks, it's about 10 minutes, maybe even less? Sometimes more first thing in the morning though.

It depends - 15-20 minutes usually.... At night before bed its longer and middle of the day he wants to be doing other things so he is faster (or just distracted)

she is a really short nurser! sometimes less than 5 min. I was worried at first but we used to go to a weekly lacation group and she took over 2 oz in less than a minute, so i think she is just a quick nurser

I made a {iron on} onsie for my daughter with that graphic and gave it to my husband for christmas ... we love spinal tap so I thought it was fitting

5 minutes each side at 9 months old.

at 6.5m DS takes about 15min to nurse except for bedtime session which can be around 30min.

at 4 months, he usually nurses for 15-20 minutes, bedtime session will be longer... more for me (esp on work at office) days, than him~

This thread gives me hope. At 30-40 mi utes a baby, right now all I do us nurse. I'm ready for that efficient phase to kick in!

@NovBaby1112: this was my son too! It stressed me out at first.
As a newborn, he nursed 10-15 minutes and that was me pushing him to try and nurse. Now it's usually 4-5 minutes on one side, 8 minutes tops. I don't know if he's fast or I have a fast let down.

R is only two and half weeks and it is work to get her to eat 10 mins. I have to burp after 5 mins cause of her reflux and it is hard to get her back on. But she is gaining weight so I guess she is getting more then enough!

I actually timed LO today! Miss A is almost six months old and takes five - ten minutes although she only takes one side at a time. When she was a newborn it used to take an hour to do each night feeding (feed, change, feed) but I can be done and back in bed in ten minutes now.

At almost 1, they are cutting down to 2-5 minutes except at night....which is about 15 min..
