Did your breast milk come in right away or did you need to wait long? I gave birth on Thursday and I'm impatient!

Mine came in about three and a half days after giving birth. And congratulations!!!

3-5 days is a normal wait for the milk volume to increase (ie milk to come in).

Around 4 days for me.

I had to wait. My poor lo was screaming her head off the whole night we came home from the hospital because she was starving so I ended up having to supliment with formula.

Thanks for responses. My LO is 3 days old. I have been supplementing with formula and the Medela SMS system. Hope it comes in soon!

with charlie i had a c section and it came in on day 4. with olive, i had a vbac and i'm not even sure when it came in. maybe day 6? it was hard for me to tell because i was pumping so much since olive had to stay at the hospital, i was producing a ton of colostrum. i'm not sure exactly when it changed from colostrum to regular milk...

RJ was born at 5am on Thursday, mine came in on Sunday or Monday after. My friend who just had her baby didn't get hers til day 10. She was freaking out big time, but now she's breastfeeding quite successfully and even has plenty of milk supply. She was seriously stressed about it until she talked to her pediatrician, who said she knows a mom whose milk didn't come in for 21 days! And she went on to breastfeed successfully as well.
We were scared to supplement with formula and RJ was screaming and lost a ton of weight before my milk came in. So go ahead and do what is best for baby!!!
