TL:DR - How long did your kid stay in a toddler bed? Or how long could they?
Trying to make DD1's room work for two kids is proving to be tricky. It's a big room but not a ton of empty wall space (windows, closets, etc.). We're thinking of moving her to a toddler bed instead of a twin to buy us some time, with the hopes that when LO2 needs to go from crib to toddler, we'll have the space to move DD1 to a twin. DD1 will be 3 1/2 in December when LO2 arrives.

B was about 4.5 when we moved him, and he probably could have stayed in it a while longer, but he’s pretty little.

Really depends on your kids' height I think. We switched Xander close to 5.5 because I was starting to feel like he was getting cramped, but he's also a peanut (5th percentile for height), so if you have a taller kid, I'd expect they'd outgrow it sooner.

My son is still in one at 2 1/2, but he's already 40" tall so I doubt he will be in one for more than a year more.

Agree that it really depends on their size. I don't have big kids and while neither of them are in a toddler bed, I am sure they would fit in one longer than average if need be.

Lo1 was in a toddler bed for about a year— about 2.5-3.5. She doesn’t sleep inside sheets like a human though, she sleeps on top of the blanket and kept twisting perpendicular and then falling off 🤦♀️ If she would have slept normally she could have made it last longer but I couldn’t deal with the middle of the night falling out of bed dramz much longer lol

We're planning on getting DS a twin bed for his 4th birthday - I'm also hoping this convinces him to sleep in it all night vs. crawling in our bed!
We also have 2 in a small room so it's been a necessity. Once we switch to a twin I'll have to take the rocking chair out of their room - and it will get more cramped.

DD1 was in a toddler bed from 2y3m til 4y9m. She is on the smaller side at 5years 34lbs and 43".
She had no issues with it.
She moved up to the Kura twin bed from Ikea when DD2 was ready for the toddler bed.
