I have a few bags I found in the freezer from November. Do I have to toss it?

How much? I go by the 3 month rule. That would be such a shame to have to toss it.

Regular freezer or deep freezer? Front or back? Do you open it often?
We stored ours in a deep freezer we rarely opened (it was just for breastmilk) at -4 so used the longer storage guidelines of up to 1 year.

I thought it was 6 months? What does Kellymom say?
You can save it for purées?

@katsupgirl: maybe 3-4 2oz bags. I'll be so sad if I have to toss it.
@anbanan15: it's in a regular freezer in the back. It actually had fallen and I just happened to see it & saw the date (nov 27).
@regberadaisy: I think kelly mom says 6 months. That makes me sad

@MarieJ: boo hiss! I'd make DH toss it. I probably couldn't bring myself to do it. This is the kind of thing that makes me eat chocolate chip cookies and ice cream.

@MarieJ: it is just outside of the 6 months! Does it look good and not freezer burned? Being in the back like that and it so close to 6 mo I would still use it...mix it in with fresh expressed or use in pureed like @regberadaisy: said. The issue with being frozen past the time frame is it starts to break down more, so not as nutritious, not so much that it is "bad" per se...some breastmilk is better than no breastmilk.

@anbanan15: I think I'll mix it with some fresh milk and send it to daycare Monday!

I always thought 6 months. I'm defrosting some I have as I was weaning for bottles in the next few days.

@MarieJ: I would defrost it and just check the smell! You know what "good" smells like, so if it's okay them just send it to daycare....If it smells off, no love lost bc it wasn't any good anyway! It would pain me to throw it out without knowing for sure!!!

@PrincessBaby: I'm going to make sure I smell it beforehand. I sure hope it still smells fine. I'll be so sad if it smells off & I have to toss it.
