I don't remember what it was a few months ago, but he is now at 15-20 mins at 4 months. I only feed one side at a feeding. If he is very distracted, he may take a little longer.

@Mrs. Blue: H sounds like he's doing the same. I had the same experience with E as well, so no experience to fall back on. I'm basically a worthless comment.

I wish I knew when I could pop him off for transitioning to comfort nursing, because H could basically stay latched on forever.

At nearly 5 weeks LO2 nurses anywhere from 5'-25' depending on hunger and mainly time of day. We also have to burp 2-3 times during a normal daytime feed. Poor girl often drowns in milk.

With LO1 starting at 6-7 weeks he was usually done by 5'-10' max. He kept that pace until he weaned at 13.5 months.

@Pumuckl: I hear you on drowning in milk......I have sprayed her in the face many times.........lol

My LO is 4 weeks and I had the same issue until an IBCLC suggested that I hand express off the first let down then let him latch. My second let down is less intense so he can easily nurse through it. It worked like a charm and after a week he had figured out how to deal with the water fountain (except for the first time I feed in the am since I'm so engorged then).

My LO wasn't an efficient nurser and we had issues with supply/weight gain so she would nurse 20 minutes each side, sometimes longer, which meant that feedings usually took close to an hour. That was until she was 3-4 months old.

By the time she was maybe 7-8 months old and eating solids well, a full nursing session would be about 15 minutes unless she was comfort nursing and then it would be until Mommy says enough.

Hang in there! You are doing great. I remember DH telling me he told his coworker who was breastfeeding at the time how long it took me to feed LO and she was shocked. She said something to me about it too. I was a little embarrassed but I think it's more uncommon to have a quick nurser!
