DS is currently weaning from the bottle and dropping his morning nap so his sleep is all over the place. I can't wait until he figures it out again! Right now he is sleeping between 13 and 15 hours a day. Is 14 hours about average for a 1 year old?

I just read online that 12-14 is average.
My son is 10.5 months and usually gets around 13 (but he's on 2 naps).

Olive was sleeping about 15 1/2 hours at that age, but she's always slept a little more than average. 14 hours is within average i think!

Well, I'm glad we're on point! I can't for the life of me remember what DD did, although she has always been on the high side for sleep. I thought DS was on the low side, but he sounds about average!

I would say C is like in the 15-17 range, but she sleeps a lot.

think of it this way. they should be getting at least 10 hours at night. most 1 year olds are on 2 naps a day that are at least 1 hour, so 12 hours is the absolute minimum sleep they should be getting.

My daughter sleeps about 12 total hours, but she's always been on the low end.

I think my almost 3 year old sleeps more than my 8 month old! He's always been a great sleeper/napper though. I have to quit comparing the 8 mo old to him and compare her to the average baby!! I catch myself saying she's an awful napper... but I really think she's just average - and I try to be thankful she does take 2 45min - 1.5 hr naps a day! She tends to sleep longer at night but take shorter naps and he sleeps less at night but takes a long nap.
Luckily they keep me too busy to stress over it too much!

@babycrz: My older one has always been a great sleeper too! Not that DS is a bad sleeper, just average, but DD regularly sleeps as much as he does.

My son 14 months old and sleeps between 13-15 hours a day?
On weekdays he does:
7pm-7am (we have to wake him to go to school)
1-3pm (1-2 hours)
On weekends he won't wake until 7:30-8am... sometimes he'd lay there until 8:30-9am if we don't go provoke him. That is heaven after the pain we went through the past year! haha

16 months old and sleeps 8pm to 6:30am with one nap either 11-1 or 3-5. Pretty average, I guess!
I have friends with older kids that go to bed earlier, wake later and take longer naps. So I've always felt that DS doesn't sleep as he should. Good to know!
