DD is currently 6 weeks old and nurses, on average, 10-12 times a day. DH gives her a bottle once in a while and we usually just do 2 oz. When you gave your EBF baby a bottle, how many ounces would you give?

Number of months plus one ounce is what we planned for. Last weeks my 2 weeks old downed over 5oz and we freaked out (yay growth spurt).
Eta months plus 1 oz worked for my son for a long time, he was also ebf

We started 4 oz bottles for daycare aT 12 weeks. He's almost 8 months and still takes a 4-4.5 oz bottle. He usually has 3-4 bottles in 9 hours while I'm at work

Kellymom recommends 1oz for every hour you're away from baby. Typically BF babies take much smaller amounts than formula fed babies (much less waste product). Check out Kellymom for more info!

@QBbride: I had seen their formula (30 oz divided by the number of feedings) but because her feedings vary wanted to get a sense of what other people did. I usually just freeze in 2 oz portions...get I should start freezing some 1 oz for now too. Good to know about the 1 hour rule.

At that age we did 3oz. By 10wks it was 4 oz, then 5oz at 3mo, and 6oz at 4mo. He could probably do 7oz now at 5mo if need be but we haven't tried.

We always did 4oz at daycare but she didn't start until 3 months. From his rate of nursing, sounds like he'd need 2-3 oz right now.

He drinks between 2-3.5 ounces per bottle. He drinks much more from the breast.

When LO was still getting milk (from breast or bottle) every 2 hours around the clock, bottles were 2-3oz. Once LO was eating slightly less incessantly, they increased to 3-4oz.

My 7 month old drinks 4oz bottles during the day, if I'm not there to nurse at night her bedtime bottle is 6oz.

My baby is also 6 weeks old. When I pump it averages 3oz per breast so I freeze in that amount and give him 3oz bottles. Sometimes he'll eat all of it in one sitting other times he'll have half and I store the bottle in the fridge and he finishes it a little while later.

@ModernDayJibarita: jealous! I can usually get 2-3 oz on one side and 1 or so on the other...but I'm a little lopsided these days.
Thanks all!
