DS is breast fed but starts daycare on Monday and I don't know how many ounces to send with him. How many ounces per feeding does/did your 3 month old take?

I'm really glad you asked this because I'm worried that DD isn't eating enough!
She takes 80-100ml (around 3oz) every three hours during the day (sometimes a little longer) and then goes a good 6-8 hours, then 4 hours between feeds at night. That's 6 feeds per day @ 3oz. Does this sound low to anyone?
@deerylou: How many feeds does she have at night?

My LO takes 11 oz for nine hour separation. We do either four 2.75oz bottles or three with 3.5+ oz.

@Cherrybee: aren't the amounts different for breastmilk and formula?
Kellymom says babies that age take an average of 25 oz per day, so divide that by the number of feedings in a day for the amount per feeding. We give C 3 oz bottles usually but she doesn't take them very often.

@Cherrybee: Does E seem full after her feedings? My LO was still bobbing her head around and fussing after her bottles, so we upped the amount we were offering a few weeks ago, and she's far more content after feeds, and usually goes down for a nap.
DD goes down around 8, but wakes for her last feed around 10 or 11. She then sleeps until morning, so maybe 7-8 hours before her next bottle?

I send three 3.5oz bottles of BM, and one 4oz bottle of formula. She almost never drinks all of it, it's usually closer to 11-12oz rather than the 14.5oz I send.

@deerylou: We make her 180ml (6oz) bottles because she used to take 140 or 150ml at each feeding but for the last couple of weeks she has stopped at 80 or 100ml every time, pushing the bottle out with her tongue and refusing to take any more.
@Foodnerd81: Ahh, of course - breastmilk. I'd forgotten that even existed! I've no idea if the amounts are different!

@Cherrybee: If she's self regulating, she's likely just fine! As long as she's gaining, the amount she's consuming sounds about right for a FF baby. I actually think my LO is kind of a pig, but she's also on the smaller side, so whatever floats her milky boat!

@Alivoo01: I exclusively pump and my LO averages only 20 or so oz a day, which the Ped says is low, but she refuses to drink
More and is still gaining and around 40% for weight so I try not to worry too much. I always give her 4 oz bottles but she usually only drinks 2-3 oz.
Maybe send 4 oz bottles and an extra frozen bag, just in case?

@Cherrybee: my LO has been drinking less the last few weeks too--- not sure why ! I keep having periodic freak outs about it and taking her for weight checks but so far she's been fine for weight so I'm starting to wonder if I have really fatty BM? Who knows.

@Cherrybee: my son drank on the lower end of average until he was around 6 months or so. I remember there were 20 oz days (he was bottle fed pumped milk). Around 6 months he started doing more like 25 oz a day and as he approached a year was doing closer to 30 oz and solids.
At 3 months he did around 3.5/4 oz every 3 hours during the day with one night waking.

Time for a bottle bootcamp!!
In order to figure out how much to send to daycare, we spend the weekend before feeding Xander bottles! Our daycare generally feeds every 3 hours, so that's what we did with Xander. He drank anywhere from 3.5 oz to 4.5 oz, so we sent three 5oz bottles.

At that age LO drank three 4oz bottles and I nurse her once in the morning and once at night

If I nurse him before I leave in the morning and soon after I get home in the afternoon, LO averages 12 oz for my 8 hour workday, which I suppose is closer to 9 hours when you factor in dropping him off at grandmas + my commute.
