15/hr San Diego. We haven't had a nanny longer than a year, but I would potentially give small raise...or maybe a monetary "gift" instead.

@winniebee: our accountant figures it out for us - we just agreed she would net $15.

@winniebee: She does it as part of our taxes, so all I know is we pay a total of $750 for our taxes and help with the nanny + some other things.

We don't have a nanny but I was one! I live in Houston. My last job I was paid $10 an hour (it was only 2 years ago so I don't feel that it's too off base to chine in here) and I was paid under the table.

ETA: I also took car of laundry, vacuuming, mopping the kitchen, dishes, etc.

We don't have a nanny but I know a teacher that just left daycare to nanny for a family for $12/HR. Upstate NY, not westchester upstate!

Our nanny was paid $22 for two kids. Live in Seattle, WA.

I was a nanny almost 10 years ago in a suburb of Portland. I was paid $12-13 a hour. One child, no additional chores- but he was no longer napping.

We have someone for 8-10 hours a week and do 15 for two kids. She set the price and I was grateful. I figure we'll be giving her a raise after the year mark. It feels a bit low as it is and we just love her.

$18/hr going rate in Boston and suburbs.

I pay just over 1K per month for DCP for DD which equals out to about $5 an hour-

So yeah, paying $15-$20 an hour -that's like 3k-4k a month YIKES!!!!!!

We pay a weekly rate of about $750. In our particular town, I was super surprised to see what nannies actually go for, because unsuspecting moms post on our local moms group, and 90% nannies answer and inflate the rate a bit. But my town, it's very common to start a nanny at $14-$15 and then give raises if they stay with you a long time.

When I interviewed nannies, I interviewed 3 in a row that had worked for other families in our town that were being paid $15 for 2 kids. All under the table. The last local nanny survey shows that 92% of the nannies in our town are paid under the table.

eta: I live outside NYC. Oh and I should clarify that the $750/ week is for 1 kid 3 days a week, 8-4:30 pm and two kids 2 days a week 7:30-4:30
