I use a manual pump and get about 4 ounces in a 10 minute session.
How much do you get and what kind of pump do you use? How long does it take?

Ugh. I am struggling to pump 2 oz on each side. Usually I get 1 or 1.5 oz on each side. I'm drinking lots of water, taking fenugreek, but nothing seems to make a difference.

When she was little and I was home I could get 7-8 ounces in the mornings (total). Now at work I average 4-6 per session.

At my peak (at around 4 months), I pumped around 5-6 oz a session. But in the beginning stages, I was pumping 2-3 oz.

olive is almost 8 months and I pump 4 times a day using a double electric. I always get the most in the morning session -- around 6 ounces. Then throughout the day I get less - 3-4 ounces.
I definitely produced way more in a session with Charlie, but I was exclusively pumping 5 times a day then (over 10 oz in my morning session).
I am making more than enough for Olive right now, and have even been able to build up my stash a little recently after I almost ran out.

@Mrs. Bee: Wow! Thats amazing you are pumping 4 times a day! How many times do you nurse? At 9.5 months I am pumping twice and nursing 2-3 times.

I was like @pointybird, lucky to get 3 oz total from a 20min session with my double-electric. I had horrible pumping self-esteem because my co-worker would pump for 10min and get 9 oz when after 3 sessions (60min total) I would barely have that much.

I'm still on maternity leave, so I'm not pumping as much as I will when I go back to work. Right now, I just pump in the morning off of the side that LO has not fed from. I can get about 6 oz. from the left breast and about 3 oz. from the right.

My LO is 5 months old and I went back to work when she was 3.5 months old. I use my Ameda double electric when I wake up and I usually get 10-12 ounces. I pump 3-4 more times throughout the day and get 4-6 ounces per session.

It has taken me a while to get to this point, at 5 months pp I get about 6-8 oz per side three times a day. I have a double electric Hygeia and usually pump for about 15 minutes (until I know I am as empty as possible).
While I don't enjoy pumping very much, I like it so much more using the double electric- I don't know how you can keep up with a manual (but I am so impressed at how much you get)! So tiring and time consuming, I'd skip it every chance I get. My pump was worth every single penny of the $319 I spent on it. I chose one of the pricier ones since I knew that I would use it multiple times a day- I don't have to plug it in to use it, and it is very small.

@Thehistoryofus: on the weekends i've been pumping only once after olive goes to bed and i nurse all day. during the week olive usually wakes up 3 times a night, so i nurse at night and then when she wakes up in the morning. so 4 times nursing, and then she gets 3 bottles during the day.

I had low supply - at peak, I was producing 3-4 oz (total) every 3-4 hours (pumping for 20-25 min). I took all those supplements, teas, drank tons of water, and this was the result.

@lemondrop: I am pretty sure I am the only one in the world still using a manual.....I could just never afford an electric so I don't have a choice.
I just pumped 6 oz in 10 minutes....not bad though!

@Mrsdaredevil: I'm not worthy!! I can't tell you how impressed with how much you can get out of that.
Something you've probably already checked out- but have you checked with insurance to see if they would cover a pump? Also WIC will loan out free pumps to those who qualify: http://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/
A friend of mine works for WIC here in AZ, he recommended checking it out- worth a look!

@lemondrop: I don't qualify for WIC, but haven't looked into insurance covering a pump. Worth a try!

so jealous of some of you! I'm a low supply mama and get 2-4oz per pumping session twice a day at work. I nurse once or twice in the morning (depending on if he gets up super early 3/4am in addition to the normal 6am), once at lunch and then twice before bedtime. DS is almost 6 months old.
I was on domperidone and it worked okay, got me up to 4-6oz per pump but it costs $180/month with my insurance, so I decided I'd try to see if I could maintain the supply after weaning off of it.. I, sadly, could not.

Wow ladies! Can your boobs have a talk with my boobs??
I pump 5 times a day (doing one side per session) and it takes me about 20 min to empty it using my Medela pump in style.... and I only get 3-4 oz!!

2-3 oz and it takes 20 min. not really that great in comparison! no wonder LO always feeds for so long!
