Building off the lunch protein quality thread. If you pay for lunch separately from tuition, how much do you pay?
Preschool is $5/day for lunch made by the director. I think it’s usually noodles or fried rice with meat and veggies. We rarely buy because I think it’s spendy but it is DD’s absolute favorite treat.

At daycare it is $4 a day and brought in from another location. It’s decent, but not always the best options.
At elementary school it is $3.50. Kind of junky but they do have a veggie and fruit with the main course.
I usually make lunches for my boys but my older one will get hot lunch once or twice a week.

It's included with our daycare, but the sister daycare charges $2/day.

Public elementary is also 2.60 for us. I have yet to convince my kinder girl to try it! We’ve never gone anywhere else that offered lunch.

Preschool was $5/day catered if you paid in advance but I never did because I didn't know which days we'd end up packing lunch and which we'd end up out sick and you had to call that morning and ask for credit and I just knew I wouldn't...it was $6/day if you did it the day of or had "emergency lunch" as they called it.
Public elementary school lunch at the cafeteria is $3/day for a choice between two or three lunches, plus a drink, and another $1.50/day to get a snack.

$5.25/day - it is prepared offsite by a local company and brought in. Based on the menus and lunches I've seen, it looks pretty nice and high quality. Just seems like so much $$$. It looks like the majority of kids bring their lunch. My son is only 2, so it wouldn't be worth the money!

Kindergarten lunch at our public school: $3.25
(The kids have an account and you just preload money—it is super convenient)
We did not have the option to buy lunch at daycare.

I had to look it up because she refuses to eat it more than 2-3 times a month.

NYC public schools have free lunch for all kids now. We still pack a lunch for DS, though.

Ours is included in the weekly rate. I'd prefer if we could opt out of it though.

Interestingly, it was not included at all in either daycare or preschool for my son. There were no kitchen facilities and it probably cost too much for it to be brought in AND parents tended to have all these food rules that it made it too complicated.
At public elementary school, it's something like $2.40. I've seen the lunches and it's nothing to flip out over, but it's economies of scale that make it that inexpensive.

We pay $5 a day and can choose from a list of options for each day. Mostly very happy with it!

Like others, breakfast, 2 snacks, and lunch are included in tuition.
