Just trying to plan ahead! Our nanny starts tomorrow and is part time (20 hours a week). Would you think a week's pay is a normal bonus? More?
She gets one week paid vacation and we also are paying her for weeks we are on vacation but don't use her.....so she has some benefits.

I swear to god I should've just been a nanny. I'm a architect and have never in 10 years gotten a weeks worth of pay as a bonus!

I didn't realize nannies got bonuses! I'd think a weeks pay is super generous.

We gave ours the equivalent of almost two weeks' pay, but it was an iPad plus some cash. She had been talking about wanting an iPad for awhile so we figured that would be nicer than just cash.

I would think a week's pay is more than enough.

Both families gave her $250 for a holiday bonus and she gets a week paid vacation during the week before Christmas.

When I was a full time live in nanny, I don't remember any bonuses- but I had a ton of perks!
I was allowed to use their car any evening I wanted, they paid for gas. They paid for my health insurance, and reimbursed me a small amount when I took an online college course. They also paid for all my food, and once even paid for my best friend to come out and visit for a week!
Sometimes I think the benefits of a job mean that bonuses won't be offered.
Neither my husband or I have ever received bonuses in other jobs. But I think it's a very generous proposition that shows you're serious about her! If you do a bonus, I think a weeks pay is sufficient!
I did provide my in home daycare provider a Christmas bonus equal to one weeks pay.

I either got a weeks pay or an actual gift with thought. The first family I worked for just gave me a weeks pay (I wasn't expecting anything so I was super touched!) but I was pretty close/friendly with the second family so they often gave me gifts and I usually bought for their LO.

When I did private respite care at night the family basically kept me clothed in Lululemon ... which was a pretty sweet bonus
