I just read an article in Parents by Harvey Karp that suggested feeding newborns every 1 1/2 hrs during the day to help the baby sleep better at night. That seems like an awful lot to me. I think I'd be permanently on the couch if I fed that often. LO is 4wks old and we usually nurse every 2 1/2 to 3 hrs. How often do you feed your newborn?

Around that age we were feeding between 1.5-2.5 hours.

At first, I was always on the couch nursing. At least it felt like that. Now at 6 weeks I feed her usually every 2 hours, more or less depending on time of day or if she has napped or not.

LO is 2 months, but at 4 wks I breastfed every 1.5-2.5 hours, sometimes every hour. It didn't necessarily help her sleep better at night though.

I breastfed every hour at that age, it seriously felt like that was all I was doing. I wouldn't say it made him sleep better either though I did get a 5-6 hour stretch every other night or so.

About every 1.5 to 2 hours and LO is 6 days old. In the evening it seems thats all im doing. She has been sleeping for a 5 hour stretch at night though but not sure thats the reason.

Birth-week 6 Every 1-2 hours for both DDs growth spurts & my supply. I did practically sit on the couch all day & nurse her. Lol
Week 6 to now at week 10 Every 2.5-3 hours with a last feeding gap at 1.5 hrs to top off before bed. She's sleeping 7-8 hours before waking for her night/early morning feeding.
