I've been super frazzled lately by crazy hours at work and terrible sleep (nocturnal puppies and a snoring husband + pregnancy bladder do not make for a good nights sleep)
Everyone makes stupid comments like "oh just wait til the baby is here, then you'll know what sleep deprived really means!" which is completely not constructive and makes me want to punch them in the face...
I feel like when the baby gets here, yes of course I will be sleep deprived, but I'll have 3 months off work so I won't be expected to work 60 hours a week on 3 hours of sleep per night. And when I return from maternity leave, I'll be working 28 hours s week and LO will be 3 months old and sleeping better than he did as a newborn.
Is this reasonable? I'm not expecting he will STTN at 3 months but I expect the feed-every-2-hours will stretch to more like feed-every-3-4-hours. And I could deal with 2 4 hour stretches of sleep much better than what's been going on lately, which is 3-4 hours of sleep, interrupted every 15-20 minutes.
What was your experience? When did your LO sleep in decent stretches? (and you can define decent as whatever you felt was a decent amount, I know everyone's sleep needs are totally different)
I'm 8 weeks pregs again right now, so i'm trying to enjoy as much sleep as i can before the frequent peeing kicks in again :). best of luck!
In all seriousness, I didn't really think about how it could be more exhausting to be home with the baby than at work. I was just thinking from a mental challenge perspective, it's been really hard to focus at work and think through complicated tax returns without much sleep, whereas being at home with LO, I shouldn't have to do a ton of focusing (I think? lol, clueless FTM here). I could get away with being a zombie at home, but not so much at work. That was kind of what I was thinking but I don't know. I'm so clueless.
