DS is 9 months and started showing signs of a cold on Friday at daycare (runny nose, congestion, cough). He was still sick this morning, so I stayed home with him. I took off work and really can't take off tomorrow, nor can DH. My MIL would be able to watch DS if need be tomorrow, but she lives 1.25 hours away. So ... how sick is too sick for daycare? Am I just overreacting to his runny nose and cough?

Our daycare has always said (and I've asked a few times haha) that a runny nose is fine. They will only send her home, and ask us to help LO home, if she has a fever over 100 and/or is vomiting.

I think the rules vary by daycare, but for us, I can't take LO if she has vomited or had diarrhea in the last 24 hours (has to be no incidents for 24 hours before she can return), and/or if she has a fever (I think it's anything 100 or over).

@swedishfish: I should have clarified - he's never had a fever.
@yoursilverlining, @mslipgloss: DS goes to a family daycare provider and her official rules are no vomiting/fever/diarrhea for 24 hours. She says she'd rather him stay home if he has a runny nose. But, from what other moms have said, that would be almost all the time!

@Katrocap: Don't be scared! I have been using it for 7 months and this was the first time it dripped after using it. It freaked me out but the thing works!

same rules for us as above. unfortunately I think you have to send them with a runny nose or you will drive yourself crazy at work!
But I hope your LO is okay.
