After you had your LO? I didn't start until about 6 weeks-2 weeks before I went back to work and I could barely build up a stash! I think I'll start earlier this time if I can figure out how to manage it.

My LO doesn't latch, so I started in the hospital! She's 1 month now and I have 150 oz already.

5 or 6 weeks. I had oversupply and was afraid pumping would make it worse!

We had latch issues so I started in the hospital using the hospital grade pump.

The night I gave birth! LO had a bad latch so I pumped to help my milk come in. I stopped after 3-4 days and started back at 4 weeks to build my stash.

In the hospital because I didn't want to have a bad supply. DS#2 is 6 weeks old and I have over 100 oz frozen!

I was told not to pump because it could cause oversupply. I have the opposite issue! Next time I will use a hospital grade pump on day one.

I think around a week so I could get some rest, yeah that didn't happen lol

On day 2 with DS1. I has to EP due to latching and sucking issues. With DS2 I waited a month before I started to pump.

Two weeks, as soon as my pump came in. I would have started sooner.

I waited about a month until my DD had established my supply for the most part and also to let my nipples heal a bit.

I had to start pumping while I was in the hospital, so the day after she was born.

At 5 weeks, and not consistently at first. I wish I had started earlier!

They had be start pumping in the hospital to help draw out my flat nipples. So I just stuck with it. Of course whe LO was around 7 weeks she was diagnosed with MSPI and other intolerances and I had to throw out my whole stash and couldn't add anything to it until we identify all the foods she was intolerant to and eliminated them.

Around 3-4 weeks because I wanted to get breastfeeding established first. I only pumped when I was wanting to get dh to feed her. (which only happened once, the rest of the time I fed her).

M was born 4 weeks early and was very sleepy so they had me start pumping the day after she was born to supplement with. Once I got home the LC had me pumping after every feed for a while. It was so much work! I'm sure it helped me establish a great supply though.

Day one. I had issues with my inverted nipple so the LC had me pumping 15 min after every feeding and feed it back to LO through SNS. It seemed reasonable at first. Then my milk came in. Holy engorgement. I built up a 100oz supply. Then I wasted it trying to get LO to take a bottle before I went back to work.

@MrsF: my LO was also 4 weeks early and sleepy too where I'm at the point I need to pump to make sure she's eating enough!
I started 2 weeks after DD#1 and 5 days after DD#2 came.

@lavender: It definitely helped us. Congrats on the new baby! I hope everything is going well

I think it was around 4 or 5 weeks but it was so sporadic, and I had a massive oversupply I was trying to make better, not worse!!

Not until 8 weeks. I wanted to wait as long as I could so that my supply could regulate and sync with LO's demands.

Day 2 due to NICU time, I'll probably do the same thing with #2 since I really liked our system of both nursing and bottles last time.

At around three weeks. I would have started sooner, but I was scared. Hahaha...not sure why. At this point I have put in 100+ hours pumping so it seems ridiculous that I was scared in retrospect!

At about two weeks pp. my midwife advised me to start her on one bottle a day to prep for going back to work. Plus I was able to build up a stash and donate some BM to other mamas with supply issues. Will do the same for future LOs.

@bisous: I was scared too at first! I used a hand pump the first few times cause the electric terrified me!
I started at 4 weeks so we could try bottles which were a big fail. I built a nice stash though for when I go back to work!

I pumped for the first time in the hospital. LO was verrrrry sleepy, so they wanted to make sure my milk would come in. I started pumping to actually store up milk around 5.5 weeks. I'm on maternity leave for a year though, so I don't do it consistently.

During the first week! I had an oversupply and DD would only eat from 1 side. My LC wanted me to have both sides either nursed or pumped for 10 minutes every 3 hours so she would eat on one side and I would pump the other.

Within hours! DS was in the NICU and could't breastfeed immediately.

I started at 4 weeks. In the beginning, I would pump just in the morning after Xander's first feed, but I eventually started pumping after every feed (during the day - he clusterfeed in the evening, so I didn't pump then). That gave me 8 weeks to build up a 70+ oz stash before I returned to work.
