Yes, straw brush - and brush well! I had an issue not long ago where I found mold growing in that space after I let DH clean my parts for me and then I didn't look closely enough.
I was given a good tip of using a q-tip for the membranes as it's soft enough and fits in those (found mold there, too).
I love this pump, but man does it have some teeny places to clean!

yikes, I've never scrubbed there! I rinse immediately then soak them in hot soapy water.

@mrskc: I didn't before either and always rinsed immediately afterward. I sterilize too. Lately, I noticed there was a thin layer of buildup going on. Not cool and ew!
@lindseykaye: I'm a fan of the pump as well. I think it pumps better than my Medela Freestyle does.
