I started by pumping after every feed, then once I had enough for one bottle, pumped when baby would usually have been breastfed but was having that bottle, then you'll have enough for a bottle for the next day, and can continue that cycle.

I pump in the morning after LO eats and have been getting 4-5 oz on one side... But that's after she has slept through the night so I'm engorged. I want to start pumping more so I can build up a little stash for when I go back to work. I'm going to start pumping every morning now.
Not sure why one side wouldn't produce anything... Maybe keep trying and something will happen?

I would try pumping right after he finishes his morning feed.

@hellobeeboston: yes..he's doing 6h sleeps now but my body is still in the "2-3hour feeding" mode because that what he does urging the day time...but I like that because it actually allows me to have enough to get that extra bottle out of my morning pump.
I wanted to ask: do you know how much he's getting at his feedings? I assume if he's eating so often then he probably isn't taking much each time...which is good for you because then you have to pump less. When LO eats every 2-3h (during day) he will only do 3oz. When he eats in the PM he will eat every 4-6h and do a bigger meal --about 4/4.5oz

Don't panic! I didn't start building my stash until my daughter was around 6 weeks. I only pump once right before bed since my daughter sleeps all night and once in the morning on whatever side she doesn't eat on. She'll be 4 months next week and I already have over 400 oz just with this pumping schedule. The only other time I pump is if she's with her grandma or something and taking a bottle.

I read somewhere your supply refills after 40 minutes so you could feed and then pump in an hour and you should be fine for the next feeding. It has happened where she wants to eat as soon as I'm done pumping. In that case, I jus feed her the bottle I just pumped. No big deal because I remind her the goal is to feed her, not fill my freezer.
