Please tell me how to get my LO to stop biting while nursing! My first LO attempted this maybe once so it was never an issue but LO2 has been doing it a few times a day for the past week, I could cry, it hurts SO bad. I feel like she does it when she doesn't really want to nurse/wants to do other things, or when she is overly upset she does it. Any tips are much appreciated!

With Xander when he was in the biting phase, I really just had to watch him like a hawk. If he was distracted or getting close to done nursing, he always would bite. I'd have to really pay attention and just pop him off before he bit me! Or not even try to nurse if he wasn't in a calm enough mood to latch without biting. It definitely took some practice to learn his cues so I knew when to stop a nursing session. But he eventually stopped doing it. Good luck!

I read in Ina mays guide to breastfeeding that you should yelp in pain loudly, pull them off, and wait before nursing them again. T started biting with his gums and I just winced through it, but I did this accidentally when T clamped down on me for the 100th time. I startled him and I hurt his feelings, but he NEVER bit me again.
