I agree with you, I struggled with biting as a child (hangs head in shame), but from a young age I was taught that it was a no-no. I think biting is such a shady thing to do in a game, as it's hard (potentially impossible) for a ref to see.

I also agree with Looch, at first I was going to say to disqualify HIM, but how is that fair? He's bitten three people now and that impacts the previous results (who knows if the biting made people not guard him as well?!). It sucks that one person can ruin the fun for everyone, but it should have been properly addressed with the first bite anyways. And I have a sneaking feeling that his teammates probably know about his biting tendencies. Play by the rules or don't play at all. It's as simple as that.

@littlek: yeah, I was watching the footage on the news last night and it's just blatantly inappropriate.

I'm pretty sure people aren't too surprised, he's done this before and kind of known for it. There were even bets placed on odds that he will bite someone during the world cup - and i am honestly so baffled by it. I've seen a lot of clips of him (my husband is a HUGE soccer fan and makes me watch) interacting with kids and fans and he is a nice guy!

As far as what'll happen to him? Like any other behavioral issue, he deserves a suspension. He has been suspended before and will probably continue to receive that punishment. He is an excellent player otherwise, and for people to think that he will get penalized in any other way isn't realistic. The team definitely won't be disqualified as a whole. There would have to be some serious obstruction of the game in order for that to ever happen.

@coopsmama: ok so...have you watched the footage? I can't even say for certain that this was a "heat of the moment" type thing. It is almost like the guy just comes out of nowhere. It's not like the bit the guy WITH the ball, either. He just...bites. I couldn't give any guess as to why.

@coopsmama: @littlek: Even if it is in the heat of the moment, it's still not right. If I bit someone during a stressful work meeting, I don't think anyone would be questioning that I should be fired. It's socially unacceptable above the young child age.

He should definitely be suspended. I think FIFA should go for a maximum punishment since this is his third offense. The forage is ridiculous. I love how he blatantly bites him and then grabs his teeth like he is hurt.

Not surprised! Professional soccer is so whacked these days. If they just let these guys have a little body contact rather than reward the divers, maybe it wouldn't go to these lengths. This is coming from someone who played competitive soccer and loves the game.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I didn't see blood but he broke skin one guy (not sure about the other 2). Yes, he's done this 3x.

I'm not surprised that nothing will be done. Like @CupQuakeWalk has said, FIFA wants to keep him in the game.

It's so disturbing though, especially since the bite looks like it had nothing to do with the game. Hockey is a violent sport, but usually the blows to players are caused by conflicts in the game. This is like he just decided to bite someone. Like what the heck?

Nevermind the game, I think he should be charged with assault.
