Going in for my HSG tomorrow. SCARED! Scared of the pain and of the results. But, I'm also looking forward to knowing if my tubes are blocked so we can proceed from there with the knowledge we need. Also hoping it's true that it improves chances of pregnancy for a few months, like I've heard!

Not painful, just crampy. It was over quickly! I leaked dye for a few hours after, so I recommend bringing a pad!

Please don't be scared. Take 4 Advil beforehand and try to relax during the procedure (deep breaths - in through your nose, out through your mouth).
The results are going to be whatever they are - and you will be so much more informed after the procedure regardless of the results! If you do have any blockages, PLEASE feel free to wall me. I have been there. And have a very healthy baby to show for my trials.

Take some Tylenol before you go. And bring a pad too.
My experience was a little more intense, because of a blocked tube. My RE tried to use the catheter to pressurize an opening to the blocked tube. I did have some cramping afterwards and was spotting for about a week.

No advice but my Aunt got pregnant after the procedure! Figured it "cleaned everything out" and made it easier for the egg to travel.

yes to the pad and advil, though I didn't find it that painful. I definitely did not have a bad experience as some seem to, it was over quickly and not a big deal.
I did get pregnant my HSG cycle with LO, probably chance but you never know! my HSG results were fine.

I should add too, I figure anytime I have a procedure done (I've also had a hysteroscopy with biopsy) I deserve a little TLC from DH! men get the easy end of TTC in my book.

Honestly it is not that bad!! I was terrified too, but it really is a pretty easy procedure. Just take some Advil/Ibuprofen before and a few hours after and you'll be fine! Good luck!

Just got home and it went great! The only thing that even remotely hurt was the pinch of the speculum and the doctor trying to position my cervix. I felt no cramping at all or any other pain. My tubes are both open and everything was normal. A little leaking afterward, but no big deal.
I took 5 ibuprofens beforehand, so maybe that helped.
