There is this one couple that have two kids at my LO's daycare and the youngest child is in the infant room which has a no shoe policy. But everytime they drop off their youngest baby in the infant room they have the older child come in and he doesnt take off his shoes, then he stomps all over the baby room on the toys with his shoes on. It bothers me more now that its been snowing and there is lots of de-icer salt residue on everyones shoes. I really dont understand why they cant have him take his shoes off or wear the shoe covers.

So the parents do take off their shoes, but they just don't make the boy? And it's both the mom & dad that do this? That would tick me off too! I'm surprised the daycare workers haven't said anything.

I think these parents need to get their infant before they get their toddler. I would ask the directors to say something to the parents.

Address your concern with the daycare. Policies should be enforced. Since the toddler attends the daycare you would think the staff would be comfortable correcting him even if they do not want to say anything to the parents.

I never thought about it but when DD was in daycare there was a family that did the same thing.

I understand that it is really hard to have toddlers take their shoes on and off, but the child should at least wait in the doorway if he doesn't want to take his shoes off.

Thanks everyone I'm glad I'm not the only one bothered by this. I wonder why it doesnt bother them since their baby is in the infant room too and plays on the floor and puts the toys in his mouth too.
@SLR: yes the parents take off their shoes, but the child doesnt. he looks about 4 years old.

That's not a good thing. You'd think the workers would do something about this. Maybe a quick comment to them when you're dropping off or picking up LO will help.

That's gross. I'd definitely say something to the director.
I recently took my 11 month old to an indoor play area that was clearly marked as a shoe free area almost every single adult was wearing their nasty shoes inside. So gross. I really wanted to say something but just ended up leaving.

I'd say something as well. It's odd that they'll take their shoes off, but won't take their LO's shoes off. And odd that the teachers wouldn't say anything either??

That's a big no no! I would ask the director of the daycare to say something to the parents. At the daycare DS goes to, there are also older siblings that accompany the parents for pickup/drop off and they have no problem taking off their shoes. If they don't take off their shoes, they should stay out of the room. Dirty shoes are way too germy.
