... does your LO nurse like crazy in the morning? I'm probably tempting the sleep gods by stating this, but DS has started sleeping through the night lately. And when he wakes up he nurses FOREVER. I know he hasn't eaten since the night before, but it takes so long!

Ours did the opposite and tanked up at night! When I was EBF she would cluster feed from about 5-7:30 and then conk out until morning! She's always been a slow eater though - a nursing session still takes upwards of 30 mins

If she STTN, I would rejoice! As it is, she goes about 7 hours and she really fills up. Not so much at night.

like @Bookish: my LO seriously tanked up at night. like, fed every 30-45 minutes from 4/5pm until bedtime (which when he was a newborn was between 11pm and midnight!)

Yes. LO nurses for 30 minutes every morning after sleeping 11-12 hours. During the day she only hops on for five minutes per feed.

No, she sleeps 12+ hours and she nurses for about five minutes on one side! Maybe she gets a lot out?

It's just a new phenomenon, and I keep thinking, "oh you've had enough," but then DS goes all floppy when I try to set him down and wants to nurse again.@autumnlove: You must have an efficient baby!
@bookish: I guess cluster feeding is what it is. I just never thought of that since it's first thing in the morning.
@penny lane: DS often feeds for long stretches after daycare until bed time, too. Sometimes I feel that I'm only wanted/needed for my boobs!

We haven't had cluster feeding since the early days, but when he sleeps for long stretches like that 7:30pm-6am without waking, he will definitely feed for longer during the first feed. Or with more gusto
Lately he's been sleeping those hours but with a quick 10 minute feed around 3am and isn't so starved upon waking.

Once she was sleeping through the night (6ish months) she would never nurse for more than 5 or 10 minutes at a time. She just got very efficient

Like some PP, LO really tanks up at night from 5-8:30. From 7-8pm she is pretty much eating the entire time. When she wakes up in the morning I can tell she's hungry because she gulps it down super quickly. She only eats for about 10 minutes though at that time.

Only really in the early days of STTN. She tends to eat a lot at night. After 11 hrs, she's definitely hungry but not really fussing to eat and eats for about her normal time. She's 9 mos and other than a few periods of disturbance, has been sleeping through the night since 3 mos.

When Xander first started STTN, his morning feeds were long - up to 30 minutes usually (though sometimes longer). But now at 8.5 months, his morning feeds are closer to 10 minutes (and during the day more like 5).

Yes Baby Brother cluster feeds from whenever he first wakes (usually 5/6 am) until about 7/8 am when we get out of bed.

She usually gets a bottle from her babysitter before I get home. Then I give her two opportunities to nurse during her bedtime routine. She does wake up pretty hungry, and we'll have a long session in the morning. I like that though.
