...how long until it came back after you weaned? My OB said it could take 12 weeks, but I'm curious how common that is. Were your cycles regular immediately, or did it take a while? We weaned 19 days ago (day and night), and I'm curious what to expect. I have a non-hormonal IUD, if that matters.

I was still nursing once a day when mine came back, at 19 months pp I think? It was almost two weeks to the day from when she dropped from two nursing sessions a day to one. It was pretty awesome not having a period for over two years and the first one wasn't actually too bad!

It took me two months after weaning... for both my kids! My cycles seemed heavier than normal at first, but other than that it was really normal.

I weaned at 7.5 months, and my period came back about a month later. It was pretty regular from the start, although heavier than I was used to for the first few months. I wasn't on any sort of contraception.

It came back exactly 1 month after weaning both times..

I got mine back about a week after I dropped to one nursing session.

with charlie 2 months after weaning at 11 months. with olive at 16 months but i nursed her until 26 months.

@LovelyPlum: I felt like my body was gearing up to ovulate for a long time before I actually did. If have weird icky feelings for a few days, and a lot of cervical mucous, then it would stop, then start again. It was actually pretty annoying. So maybe that's what's happening for you too. Just be extra careful if you don't want to get pregnant.
