I'm almost at 72 hours from birth. LO latches well and feeds well. About 30 minutes a session every 3 hours. At night though we go much longer between feedings. No amount of waking him up works. He won't latch unless he's ready.
I'm starting to worry about my milk coming in. How long did it take for your milk to come in if you had a c section?

My colostrum didn't come in until day 4 and milk on day 5. I was a wreck.

Mine came in on day 4 I think. It's hard to remember but I know it was after we left the hospital.

Colostrum like right away and milk after 3-4 days. Don't sweat, it'll come and be everywhere in no time at all. Babies aren't born hungry

My collustrum came in right away and milk came in about 2.5 days after birth. She nursed a lot the first few days but I'm not sure if it was for comfort or actually trying for food.

My colostrum was in at birth and my milk came in on day 4. It will happen!

colostrum came right away. Milk came in 7 days later. LO lost too much weight so I started pumping to help my milk come in and drank mothers milk tea

With this last baby my milk came in the night I came home from the hospital, so that means the third night (I think). I wouldn't worry yet And, ask the Lactation Consultant, use her as much as you can before you leave!

Day 5 (she was born on Wednesday, milk came in on Sunday). We never supplemented, just put baby to breast a lot. I wouldn't pump this early for fear of causing an over supply. Let him cluster feed as much as he wants and that should help!

@Danizaur: does baby seem happy and content at this point in time? If so, then just keep offering the breast as much as possible and I'm sure your milk will be in soon!

I was never sure mine came in (at first). I never got engorged, never had tingling or any "signs" of a letdown, etc. so I'm not sure when it really happened! We supplemented the first month or so because my supply was so low.

. @sunshineandsushi: I was a wreck too, and thought it wasn't coming! I still remember when it happened as I was sitting on the sofa next to my husband and all of a sudden, "boom!" I said, 'Milk is here!" and jumped up!

@sunshineandsushi: mine didn't come in till day 5-6 and it was the.worst.week.of.my.life. And then once it did come in I thought I was broken because I had no engorgment and wasn't leaking everywhere!

C - section on Tuesday, milk came in Friday early afternoon. I never felt it come in, but baby girl spit up milk that afternoon which clued me in that it had come in.

I think it came in on day 7. It was hard to tell because I never got super engorged. It seemed to slowly change over from colostrum to milk. And then one day he wouldnt eat because my letdown was suddenly so forceful I was spraying milk too hard in his mouth.

I had colostrum right away, and then I think my milk came in day 3 or 4? My LO wouldn't wake for a feeding for love or money when she was a newborn.

I wouldn't worry yet, and I definitely wouldn't supplement if he's acting normal (supplementing tends to lead to supply issues). It's completely normal for them to lose weight right after birth and not a reason for concern at all - Vi lost 10 ounces and then rapidly gained it back when my milk came in.
Sounds like you are doing everything right - putting him to the breast as often as he will is exactly what will get your milk to come in.

If you have colostrum already then no need to start pumping already - you're just going to produce an oversupply which might cause a lot of indigestion issues for your LO. At this point their tummies are so tiny the colostrum is enough. I had a c-section and I think my milk came in on day 4 and my LO was perfectly fine before that point.

9 & 6 days. I supplemented my LOs with formula for the first couple of weeks. It never caused any issues and I was able to EBF when my supply was established.

Mine came in on day 4. I was worried about it coming in, too because my baby was born very large and needed more than the usual amount of food, so the nurses said. I stimulated my nipples with a manual pump to try and get my milk to come in faster.

5 days. My colostrum was there right away, but since X was slightly jaundiced, slightly dehydrated, and lost a full lb within the first few days we were at the hospital, we had to do the nurse-SNS-pump thing until my milk came in, and my instructions (they gave for all moms who wanted to breastfeed) was to offer the breast every 2 hours *at least*. When my milk did come in once I got home, it was a TON. I mean, if I remember correctly, the kid was back at his birth weight and then some by day 7.

I didn't have a c section but mine still didn't come in til day four, with much longer bf sessions... But if your lo is acting ok and you're getting wet/dirty diapers, I really wouldn't worry yet. We had jaundice and a bad latch, though.

LO was born Monday, we left the hospital Thurs, and my milk came in Friday. Just keep putting T to the breast since you have colostrum and things should keep going. LO was born 7lb5oz and left at 6lb10oz and the pediatrician wasn't concerned at all, just said to keep offering and it should even out.

@Danizaur: Glad things are going well! It took me 5 days & we had to supplement & never stopped. For others finding this thread via Google or whatever, I do wish I had nursed or pumped every 2 hours around the clock from day 1. I was told to not overdo it & cause oversupply but the first 24 hours are crucial & I think I didn't get enough stimulation because we were both sleepy.

Day 4/5... we had to supplement in the beginning because she was so tiny and HUNGRY!! Glad to hear the great update!
