Twins were born on Saturday in a "double whammy" - one vaginal and one c section. I apparently lost a lot of blood and my hemoglobin is quite low, although my # improved yesterday so I didn't have to receive a blood transfusion.
The lactation consultant I met yesterday said deliveries with a lot of blood lost can cause a delay in the milk coming in. Anyone have personal experience with this? We don't have much more time to wait because the babies are small and losing a lot of weight. Luckily they both seem to understand the BF concept and latch pretty well for their sizes. Just need some milk to help pack on the pounds.
Pediatrician is supposed to be by later to talk about supplementing. At this point I'm fine with fixing them formula, but my nurse said this hospital almost never suggests that. Instead they'd want me to pump and feed. I've already begun pumping (hospital rental) and imiknnot getting much yet.
Anyway, just wanted to hear others' experience. And because she's too cute not to include in this - baby Alice and mama this morning taking a BF break to cuddle.
