After you returned it and started using a regular pump did it just take longer or did your output take a hit?

Neither! I actually couldn't tell a difference between the two! I have the insurance version of the Medela pump-in-style and rented a Medela hospital grade for the first 3 months.

Same here, it was the same. Just my Medela Freestyle was louder! Haha!

I ask because the hospital grade ones have larger motors and therefor work better.

Neither, that was one reason I was really happy with my Hygeia, no difference between it and my hospital grade Ameda.

More efficient -
Ha. I rented a hospital grade pump and just couldn't figure out how to use it. I barely had any output so I gave up and hand expressed. My Medela was so much better because it was easier to use!

I felt like the hospital grade pump was more efficient but I didn't quantify it in time or fl oz.
The thing I liked about the hospital grade pump I had was that there were two separate pumps. One for each breast and they could be adjusted independently. I was only having trouble with one so it was nice to have that level of control. Now that I only use one side I really miss that feature.
