Just curious, who took you to the hospital when you were in labor? Your SO? Your mom? Did you drive yourself there?
I took a cabs and car service both times to get to the hospital, but that's pretty common being an expecting mom in NYC.

@sera_87: oh wow, were your contractions very strong at that point?

@SAHM0811: yes, although thankfully they were about 5 min apart & I was on the highway. I just lifted my foot off the gas & breathed through them.

Dh drove me. But he had to stop through a drive thru first so I could eat!

I could have drove myself. My contractions were strong and I felt great. The OB said I was close to 5cm and she felt my contractions and told me they were stronger than they felt and to go to the hospital. Otherwise: I felt OK!
DH took me and glad he did because I needed to get home with him obviously.

DH drove and had to creeeeep over the speed bumps. My contractions were strong, long and close together!

DH drove! My water broke at midnight and I got up and told DH that we were going to the hospital,

DH... I was in the middle of transition. Wasn't fun! The real kicker was I was laying back in the front seat & when we got there P had already dropped WAY more so I couldn't stand up for the longest! I think I had like 3-4 contractions in the parking lot before getting out of the car! lol

Technically, I was wheeled to the hospital in a wheelchair! But it was from the doctor's office which is in a facility across the parking lot. DH drove me to the doctor's office

My DH drove both times. The second time I really really wished I could have driven b/c he was driving SO SLOW on the freeway (he was going 60 in a 65 zone and I wanted him to be pushing 80) and I was 8 cm by the time I got into the hospital!

@T-Mom: omg wow! yeah second babies come faster! How long was your labor? I'm always scared to think of how fast a third baby would be!

@SAHM0811: let's see.. got to the hospital around 8:30 or 9 pm, had DS right before midnight? Pretty short labor and delivery. Yeah, I think #3 would be super fast! I would probably switch hospitals since my hospital was over 30 minutes away.

Dh drove. My water broke shortly after 3am. He stopped by McDonald's to get himself something to eat on the way. Who stops at McDonald's at that hour!?

Dh.
We went in once to get checked out (and were told we could stay if we wanted but it wasn't necessary and I didn't want to!) and then 24 hours later I was still in labor and we went for real. I could not have driven myself...turned out I was 8 cm though, after 2 days!

The first time my dad drove. Mom was in the passenger seat, DH and I were in the back seat. The second time, DH drove with me in the passenger seat and my mother sitting in the back.

for DS, DH drove. For DD, I drove myself BUT wasn't planning on being induced when I arrived

DH drove-I was being induced, though
@sera-I can't believe you drove yourself!

I drove, but neither of us thought we'd be having a baby that day! I'd called my OB because I didn't feel LO kicking much and she had me come in... So I drove, didn't take anything with me because I didn't think much of it. I felt silly for going in but it was good that I did! DH came a few hours later, once the dr said it'd be best to deliver.

We took a taxi too! He was really nice too - I'll bet they get excited when they have passengers who are in labor!

DH drove me both to the birth center and to the hospital when I transferred.

We took a car service (also in NYC) and got stuck in HORRIBLE traffic on the FDR during morning rush hour. Worst drive of my life!

DH and my mom met us there. I had a scheduled induction so it wasn't a mad rush to arrive.

@Sweet T: haha I have to laugh because my DH would so stop to get HIMSELF food (or make himself a protein shake) before heading to the hospital.

An ambulance... I had the nicest paramedics ever! They stopped by the next day in the hospital to meet the baby! I'm looking forward to having DH drive me next time around!

My husband drove me both times, but I was driving shortly before leaving for the hospital. With my first, I was driving back to the office when my water broke; we left for the hospital about ana hour later. With my second, I drove to get my husband and I some lunch while we were waiting out the contractions; we left for the hospital about an hour later.

I drove...but I wasn't in labor I was being induced.
I also drove us home but my DH can't drive so that's the norm for us lol

DH drove. I wasn't in labor but I was having terrible abdominal pain from liver issues with HELLP syndrome. He pretty much had to scoop me up off the kitchen floor. It was so bad I was pretty sure we'd be coming home with a baby!
grapefruit / 4669 posts
I drove to be induced so I would be able to say that I drove to the hospital to have a baby!
@Pumpkinspice: Whoa, you drove home? Impressive!
