yup! or email. I work in a middle school and the school nurse has to call every kid's parents who don't show up. And then email the absentee list to the appropriate teachers.

So it saves her time if parents call or email. but every school does it differently. Public schools get paid based on student attendance, so they like to know.

Yes. We always call. We also have to call so that the bus won't waste its time stopping if she's not going to be riding. The school will actually call us if we aren't really prompt.

Where we went to school, if the parents didn't call, the school had to call all the parents to make sure that the kids were OK and that the parents knew they weren't in school. Otherwise, it was an unexcused absence.
