...were they eventually able to eat dairy in general? I decided to give LO a little bit of my yogurt with his fruit today and he seemed fine, no exorcist vomiting or rash. Is it possible he could eventually eat more dairy, do you think?

So my situation isn't directly applicable to yours (I was temporarily lactose intolerant and now have a lower tolerance due to an infection I had) but I wouldn't say that eating yogurt is a sign that he will be able to eat dairy. According to my GI, yogurt doesn't have "as much" dairy in it (it's broken down) so it just may be that he can handle that little bit. My understanding is that the older one gets the less they can tolerate dairy.. but I hope I'm wrong! I know kids do sometimes "outgrow" other allergies. I think it's just going to be a wait and see type situation! Thankfully even if he doesn't outgrow it there are a lot of alternatives out there these days.

I think yes. For us we are still mostly dairy free because he still gets congested and mild eczema but no more vomiting so I think he is slowly out growing it.

That's a good sign! We tried yogurt first as well, and then hard cheese and baked dairy next. We waited a long time (I think she was 14 months when we started introducing) so I think she had already grown out of the MSPI at that point. I'd just go slowly and follow your LO's lead.

@spaniellove: I would just take it slow and watch his poops the next couple of days. I tried yogurt with my LO and she didn't have any immediate reactions, but then she was up screaming about 5 times overnight, had green diarrhea the next day and then threw up. So it was a very slow reaction.
The next weekend we tried soy flour and within 48 hours she had a major eczema flare up-- worse one ever; all over her tummy, legs, back and arms. It's taken us a few weeks to get her skin more under control, so I think we're going to hold off most forms of soy or dairy for a while.
