Does anyone know if a non-ikea standard twin mattress will fit on a twin ikea bed frame (specifically the Tarva)? It seems that the Tarva dimensions are ever so slightly smaller than a standard twin mattress. Would this really make a difference?

I doubt it. Once I tried pairing a standard double mattress with a double IKEA bed frame and it was a total fail. I think all the IKEA frames and mattresses are European sizes, so they're not easily interchangeable with standard bed sizes in the U.S.

i have the extendable toddler bed Busange and it fits a twin mattress from somewhere else.

Dd has an IKEA queen (leirvik) with a non IKEA mattress and it fits perfectly

We have a queen bed frame from IKEA, and we use a queen Serta mattress with it. It fits fine.

@bluestriped bee: Yep. We have an ikea crib and a naturpedic mattress.
We also have a queen bed frame with a standard queen tempurpedic mattress.

I remember a while ago being on the hunt for a bed, and I asked at Ikea about this, and I was told that a long time ago Ikea did indeed used to carry European sized mattresses in North America but that changed a long time ago as well. So in short, unless something has changed that practice, you should be fine!
We had an ikea crib with a non-ikea mattress with no problems, and currently have a double ikea bed with a non ikea mattress too!

We have a ikea king and use a California king and it works. Not perfect but it works. Also, not all their beds are the same size so definitely double check!
