My LO is turning 4 months this week and I'm a bit scared to start him on solids soon! What if he has allergic reactions? What if I give him the wrong thing to eat? And I do admit that I'm not looking forward to changing those oh-so-stinky diapers! Anyone else experience this?

you can start with something very simple like rice cereal mixed with breast milk or formula. it's not that scary i promise!
yes the poop will be stinkier, but it will become solid which is easier to clean.

I think as long as you listen to the doctor and stay away from the big things like shellfish, eggs, and peanuts you'll be fine. I was scared too, but now it's so much fun introducing new things to her to see what she likes and dislikes.

The diapers aren't that bad. Poop is poop! It should be a fun experience. Try to relax and have fun seeing what your baby likes to eat. Hope there are no allergies!

I on the other hand cant wait to feed my baby solids.... it seems so far away since she is 7 weeks now but I am trying to hold out till 6months or maybe later

I started at 6 months and I was dreading it!! Her poop changed but not that much and very gradually...I think bc I mixed a lot of pumped breastmilk into her food...it definitely helped that I decided to make her food and I bought a few baby food cookbooks...the first few pages discuss baby's first foods and what foods you should start with, etc. it was not bad and I feel silly for worrying now.

YOu don't have to star at 4 months old. It is actually much more preferred that you start at 6 months old or when they show signs they are ready. As far as allergens, the newest information I've been seeing is that unless there is a history of allergies in the family, most things shouldn't be limited. We didn't do allergens but that is because we had tummy problems.
So, go ahead and wait if you want to.

There are so many resources out there for what to feed and when, so don't be worried about doing the wrong thing. I've also found there is no "wrong" approach, in fact, countries around the world introduce different things at different times, so it's not an exact science.
