Just wondering if anyone has had any luck in increasing their supply in one breast? Over the course of 5 days, LO has been nursing much longer on my right than my left, it seems to be her preference. I feel like I've taken a hit in my left supply. Anyone successfully increased their supply in just one side, how did you do it, and how long did it take?

I havent had this issue but how about only offering her the left side and pumping the right for a few days to even things out

My left side does not produce anywhere close to what my right side does - I have tried several things to improve output on the left to no avail.
ETA: I tried only pumping the left (after feeds), pumping the left side longer when I was just pumping, and always starting on the left (when LO was super hungry and would nurse more aggressively), but it didn't work for me.

my left side produces less than half of my right. pumping that side for longer than the right or only pumping the left side helped boost my supply. but nothing beats nursing!

You can start nursing sessions on that breast & then move to the other after a few minutes, the breast is empty, or after letdown if lo really isn't wanting to nurse on that side. Generally giving the "low" breast more stimulation for a day or two will give it a boost & even out supply.
I've had to do it a couple times because P prefers my left side & went a few nights just nursing that side.... My poor right breast got left in the dust so I had to rectify it. Totally worked

thanks ladies! i keep nursing on the left first, but she just doesn't like to stay on that long and her swallows are spaced farther apart than when she is on the right so i feel like there isn't enough milk in there. but i will keep at it and hopefully see some results in a few days.

Can you let LO just comfort suck on the low producing breast? Comfort sucking can do wonders for low supply

My right is always fuller than my left too. It's great that you're making sure to nurse her on the left, even though she prefers the right. I second @Kemma: on the letting her comfort nurse. Interestingly, the LC I emailed last night (she's coming tomorrow, phew!) doesn't recommend pumping after feeds because she things it would be time better spent resting. I've also found that hand expressing gets me more than pumping, so maybe that would help? Good luck mama : )

@Kemma: she is only a comfort nurser if she falls asleep while nursing. she won't latch on if she isn't hungry and just fights me so hard if i try to make her latch on. i've tried to time a few nursing sessions around her nap time so that she'll comfort nurse - but it is kind of hit or miss.
@travelgirl1: thanks! that is interesting that your LC said that. i should call mine tomorrow and see what she says.

@JessLC: I had the opposite problem when Miss A was a newborn, she wouldn't stop sucking even if she was full and it resulted in a lot of spitting!
When I feel like I'm having a dip in supply I often offer the low breast several feeds in a row so that it gets extra stimulation.

I noticed the right side had much less milk, and a lactation specialist told me that it's very common. I try to put her on that side more often to start but other than that I'm not sure how to increase supply...
