I'm being induced tomorrow at 41 weeks. I am starting with Pitocin because I was 3.5 cm and 75% effaced at my check on my due date. If you were induced do you have any tips or advice for me? Thanks!

Not really any tips, just good wishes! My induction sucked, but it worked, and I avoided a csection. Sounds like you're in a good position for one, being that dilated. Best of luck to you!

I think you are in a good place for an induction since you are so dilated. I made it nearly 10 hours without pain meds with Pitocin, so I think everyone's experience is a little different. I actually think my response to the Pitocin might have been aided by the fact that I drank RRL tea. (I had very strong contractions with minimal Pit.) If you've been drinking it, you should make a stronger infusion and sip on it tonight.
My primary advice would be: This is your labor, induced, spontaneous, whatever. Go in there knowing that it isn't going to be harder and it isn't going to be easier. It is going to be the labor you were meant to have.
I'm so excited for you!!

No real advice, just good thoughts and good luck. I was induced when I was 4cm, but it took 16 hours to get to 10. I had an epidural so the contractions weren't bad. Just be calm and bring what you'll need to help you pass the time!

No advice, but I just wanted to wish my fellow June mama good luck! I'm excited for you!

Wishing you lots of luck!! I'm more than likely going to be induced and the advice I have received from friends is to plan to be waiting around for things to start happening and to pack lots to keep you entertained. We have packed playing cards, puzzle books, books to read and games to play on our phones.

Sounds like your body will probably react well to induction! Is there a reason they're going straight to pitocin without just breaking your water and seeing if that causes contractions to start? That and/or Cervidil would be my preference.
I was induced at 42 weeks and ended up with a c-section, HOWEVER, my cervix wasn't anywhere close to being as favourable as yours.

Good luck! I was at a 3 when they started pit so being at 3.5 sounds like you should hopefully respond well. Get some rest if you can tonight!

I bet you respond well !! My induction went great and my labor was quick ! Good luck !

@hergreenapples: the NP told me they only start with Cervidil if your cervix isn't favorable for induction. Since I'm far enough along, they go right to Pitocin. I was hoping to go without an induction but this is the way this baby is arriving I guess!
Thanks, everyone! I'm trying to stay relaxed and calm but I'm nervous. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 AM tomorrow so I'm double checking my bag and trying to gather some DVDs to watch.

@swedishfish: So excited for you! I had such a beautiful, positive induction experience. I went in with ruptured waters and no contractions. I was only 1 cm dilated. They used VERY low levels of pit (at our request--we were not comfortable with them upping it every half hour without consulting us). After 7 hours I had reached 3 cm. and another 2/3 after that I was a 10! I was able to avoid any pain meds (can't remember what you are hoping for pain management wise) and in hindsight while we had hoped to labor at home for as long as possible, it was nice to labor in the AC, order room service (before pit was started) and play cards, watch TV and listen to music.
As for advice--I second what @Espion said--this is YOUR birth. Own in. We felt most comfortable by asking a lot of questions about the process so we felt like we could be advocates for how the induction went. We only went up to 6 ml of pitocin (vs. a common high of 20-24) and ultimately after 1/2 hour of the 6 went back to 4 because that was enough to get the contactions going--and again, I was only 1 cm dilated, so it sounds like you are already well on your way!
One other bit of advice--our midwife and doula reminded us that often times pitocin gets a bad rep for making contractions hurt more--it gets them going but it doesn't guarantee more painful contractions. Don't let that psych you out. Think of it as a jumpstart to your labor, like if your car needed a cable jump--then things will sail on their own! You've got this

Omgosh good luck!!!!
I never went through with mine because I went into labor the morning of! But, I had told myself before hand to stay calm and not get anxious. I cleaned my house, packed my bags and went to bed early!

Eat something before going in. I was starving!!
I was induced at 3cm and went into hospital at 8am. Only had like half a bagel bc I was nervous. Labor was slow. 22 hours later, I had only reached 9cm and ended up getting a c section.
You're not allowed to eat after the csection either. I was dying!

@misolee: THIS!!! All the research I did and I didnt know that once the induction started I wouldnt be allowed to eat!!! My labor was 36 hours- I was starving!!

@misolee: @PrincessBaby: I just had some frozen yogurt and made a PB&J for later possibly. I can't eat past midnight. I was considering NOT eating the PB&J but I definitely will now!

@swedishfish: I totally agree with something heavy. I had a bagel with peanut butter and a glass of milk! I was soooo lucky with my induction, 12 hrs from being admitted to holding j. I started with cervadil then pit after 3 hrs. I think there ARE some bad induction stories but I only know one person IRL who had a bad experience. Just go in and focus on meeting LO. Good luck!!
