I have 2 onesies and a Bumbo I got at a garage sale.

I already used up the "surprising the DH" dog shirt and moved on to shoving pee sticks in his face! So classy.

Not because we're superstitious, but I don't have anything! Maybe a few extra children's books I picked up when I was a teacher. But we've decided to just go ahead and buy things because it'll make us feel better.

I bought one thing before getting pg, an elephant blanket that I couldn't pass up. I couldn't handle looking at baby stuff at all.

@bluestriped bee: I think you should do what feels best for you. If spending this time preparing makes you feel good that you're getting a little bit closer, then that works for you. If having things around gives you anxiety, then of course it doesn't!

@bluestriped bee: Oh and since you're moving over here we're going to go shopping together right?

I never bought anything not because we are superstitious but because I thought it might make me sad. I can see the other perspective too. For IVF, my husband did buy a Belly Armor blanket to protect the embryos from cell phone radiation, etc. He is paranoid but sweet.

We have a baby name book... both my husband and I have gone through and marked all our favorite names.

Sometimes I think about buying other things but I know I would be heartbroken looking at them every month that went by with yet another BFN, so I've held off!

Before we started I bought a few board books that were on sale. My mom also sent me What to expect when your expecting as well as some of my old baby Halloween costumes. I also got really into making baby booties. All of these things are now stashed in a box, except for the booties which I have given to friends at showers. I also started a baby quilt but haven't felt like working on it. I do think buying things would make me feel hopeful and excited, but would then be hard to look at after a BFN.

I haven't purchased anything, I've only let myself create a private pinboard to go CRAZY with the planning. It gave me something to focus on during the fertility treatments - happy little baby things I do see the point of spacing out the purchases, but I guess we just never felt like we wanted to dive in until we could understand if we would ever even get pregnant.

It's not superstition or anxiety, but a feeling of embarrassment that prevents me from buying anything....kind of like buying wedding magazines before you are engaged. Not the same thing, I know, but that's still how I feel. If I bought anything, I would end up hiding it. I wouldn't want anyone to see things I've bought and feel sorry for me b/c I'm not pregnant. I want to be able to buy these things in public while basically telling anyone who will listen, "I'm pregnant!"

With that said, I still look at baby items online all the time--mainly gear b/c I love researching that type of stuff. I have a secret Amazon wish list of baby items. I'll look on Craigslist and see these amazing deals and think, "I've got to buy that! It would be dumb not to!" I try to remind myself that there will be other great deals out there when the time is right. The last great deal I saw online (Bugaboo Bee w/accessories for $175!), I finally asked my husband if he thought we should start buying stuff to space out the cost of baby purchases. He said no, that we should wait until it's our time b/c so we can enjoy the process.

@Alie: the baby name book sounds fun. Every now and then, we throw out baby names to each other. My husband has surprised me by liking some unconventional names!
