Is it normal to feel discomfort? I felt the the U/S tech was throwing around the wand like it was nothing and I was okay earlier, but now I have terrible cramps.
Should I be worried?

I didn't have discomfort from it but a lot of my friends did. I want to say it's normal.

I have had many a "Wanding" as some one once called it on this thread...the main nurse that I see most of the time knows I am a big baby and is nice and gentle if I don't get her the other nurse is nice but she seems to have a heavy hand.....lol I don't ever really feel pain, but I know if I think about the pressure it makes me feel crampy......sometimes I think I do it to myself....lol

@Mae: This is a pre-fertility specialist appt. They did an external and internal u/s before I can get a referral. Not ku yet I kind of wanted to keep my mind off things and watch the screen and she totally wouldn't let me, so I feel a little bit violated, but I know it had to be done.

It really depended on who was doing it. The nurses at my first RE could be not so gentle. But at my second RE office the doctors did all the ultrasounds and they were always really gentle. Next time you have to have one I would ask to see the screen, you should know what is going on! Every single ultrasound I have ever had the doctor or nurse would walk me through it and point things out on the screen.

I've had some painful internal ultrasounds. It really depends on how hard the dr presses on my cervix. I think it's normal.

I just had one last week and it was VERY uncomfortable! Esp when she moves it from side to side. I wouldn't say it hurt though and I was just slightly sore after.

@babycanuck: I've had some very painful ones, depending on who is doing the digging up there. Generally, some Motrin, a heating pad, and/or a hot bath helped to relieve the discomfort.
I hope you feel better soon!
