A close friend is trying to have a baby and she has been asking me a lot of questions on childcare. She found a home daycare that is within walking distance from her home and she is trying to figure out if it is licensed or not. She currently lives in MA.
Are there any other helpful websites that might help her find a daycare (home or center)?

@travelingnanny: I'm in the search process myself now and was directed to my state's department of early care and learning (what it's called in GA). You just have to find out what it's called in MA. I can search for licensed providers in my area (daycare centers and home providers) and they also allow for a search for providers who have gone the extra mile and gone through the state's rating system. It lists all the most recent review dates, complaints, et. cetera. I'm sure MA -- being MA -- has something even more sophisticated.

Yes, I agree our early learning department has a website that lists the licenses.

We are in MA and I looked at the EEC website when searching for daycares. I think this might be it. http://www.eec.state.ma.us/ChildCareSearch/EarlyEduMap.aspx
