This breastfeeding in public thing is new to me, since my first almost always took bottles. I know the answer is that I CAN feed her anywhere, but I'm curious if there are times I shouldnt? I don't feel uncomforrable, but I also don't want to make others uncomfortable either.

I think anywhere is a ok, I do think that there are places where you might get more looks than others, but SCREW them......lol

Feed away, mama! I feel like if it's an appropriate place for someone to eat then it's an appropriate place for a baby to nurse since that's what they're doing!
When people act weird about BF'ing in front of them I might make a bit more of an effort with coverage but I'm not going to not feed my baby just because someone feels weird about it. It's not fair to our LOs.

After LO comes in September there will probably be many places that I don't feel comfortable nursing.

Someone else's home where they have said something. Granted I probably wouldn't put myself in that situation . Otherwise I have nursed in many places with no qualms.

I chose not to breastfeeding in front of my husband's grandparents, in their home, because I worried it might make them uncomfortable...but otherwise, nope!

i really have only been thinkING about it because we are out of town visiting my grandparents and I'm wondering if I should leave the room. I used a cover whole we were with my grandfather yesterday and felt a little awkward, and today we have a big family gathering at a nursing home. I worry a little that it wasn't quite so normalized for their generation.

At someone else's house I would just ask the host and go in another room if I felt like that would make everyone more comfortable including myself. Honestly I just ask if people mind. So far no one really seems to. We combo feed with pumped milk though so I often just let guests feed her.
ETA so officially there's no where I would not feed. But I do prefer a little privacy if it is available.

The only place I ever went out of my way to nurse was at work when visiting wth baby. I would use an empty office. Other than that, I feed wherever baby and I are comfortable - others can leave if they are uncomfortable!

In public I would find a comfortable spot to sit and use a cover. It didn't matter if I was in the toy aisle of Target or sitting on a bench outside a busy outside mall. People would stare but it never bothered me. At other people's homes I would ask for a room where I could nurse in private. Occasionally if I was comfortable enough I would sit on the couch with a cover, and most people didn't mind. If they did, they never said anything to me.

I'll nurse anywhere. Though if I'm at someone's house, I just ask if they mind me nursing wherever I am.

I thought I would be much more modest with nursing but my lo wants to nurse pretty much 24/7 even now at 6 months. For her I think it's a huge comfort thing. So my options became 1) be by myself all the time feeding her 2) have a crying sad baby or 3) whip out my boob wherever whenever have her instantly calm down and I get to visit! She also refuses a cover.

Probably a church or house of worship. I wouldn't leave the building or anything, just the sanctuary. Other than that, just any place that wasn't comfortable or clean enough. And I would ask first in someone's home.

My attitude was always that people will have to deal with it. Why should I sequester myself just because my baby is hungry?

Not really. Sometimes it was just better for DS to go to another room so he could focus and eat in quiet, so it was more for him than anyone else!

I pretty muxh nurse anywhere and i do get looks and mean stares but i sont care. Gotta feed.my baby and to be honest im to lazy to fiddle with a cover.

Just somewhere unsanitary! I did it anywhere I felt comfortable which was most places.

At work or at someone's house, I will go to an empty room. I work with a lot of guys, mostly older.

My first answer was "nowhere," but there are definitely places where if I can easily make a different choice, I will do so. Mostly for my own convenience (I'll feed in the car vs. going into a store like Target, but would go into the mall to feed instead of staying in the car). But there are people I don't feed in front of (my dad, my in-laws, some of DH's single, male friends) if I can just go into another room.

I mostly felt comfortable nursing anywhere, but there a few times when I did go for privacy. Namely- if we were with male friends or my friends SOs, I felt weird and used a cover it went into another room; at restaurants I usually used a cover or blanket - she nursed for pretty much my entire meal so it was a one time!; with dh's relatives (besides MIL)- usually I wanted the alone time anyway!
I realize it's illogical that I would happily nurse without a cover in front of strangers, male or female, but would cover up or leave with my own male friends, but whatever.

I don't like nursing with a cover. I have one and lost it and never bothered replacing it or searching for it in our house. It's probably under a bed somewhere!
I don't like to nurse in front of my dad or in front of my cousins, who are all boys & are 8-10 years old. I go in another room or upstairs if I'm around them, and they respect my privacy.
Otherwise, I have and do NIP without a second thought.

Any sort of professional environment or anywhere really dirty. Other than that, no.

I wouldn't nurse in a bathroom. My husband didn't like me nursing in church, but I got sick of leaving the sanctuary pretty quickly, so I just started nursing in church too. BFing in front of my FIL gives me the heebs, but I will still do it.

I wouldn't nurse in a bathroom.
Lo2 is super distractible now, so he is hard to nurse in public. But public places I have nurse include:
Restaurants
Airplanes
Church
Playgrounds
State capitol (in the hallway, though, not in a hearing room - I thought that would be too noisy)
Gosh, just anywhere I've been with the LOs! I've never had anyone give me the side eye. A couple of lobbyist kinda laughed in that "we've all been there way" when they saw me walking around the hallways bouncing LO! -
I didn't feed my daughter in church but....I thought about it and the reason behind that was I always wear dresses to church. You can't take your non nursing dress off in the middle of service and not get funny looks.

Nope - I fed my babies whenever they were hungry, regardless of where I was. I wouldn't feed them in a public bathroom as that is gross, but I never held back from feeding them or removed myself from a situation in order to feed them. Kid's gotta eat and other people's comfort levels aren't really my concern!

I never fed J in a place where I wouldn't eat myself. I wouldn't eat in a restroom, a store, church, etc. If I HAD to feed J then and there immediately, sure, but there were other options like a bench or in a restaurant at a table, etc. where it's perfectly normal and acceptable for adults to eat, so I felt that feeding J there was perfect.

I would pretty much nurse anywhere and without a cover but, I wouldn't nurse in a public bathroom and in someone else's home I always ask if it's okay first. If it isn't, I ask where I can go instead.

I am slightly more reserved than I expected but my answer is I will still feed her almost anywhere. She is super distracted these days though so I try to find a private place when I am not just hanging out with friends so it doesn't take as long.

I wouldn't nurse on the subway. Too dirty. I also don't nurse in front of males in my family.

Nope, I'd BF anywhere I needed to. Now, LO only nurses 2-3x a day so we mainly do it at home, but I have no problem going into another room at a friend's house, or in the car, in a quiet corner in a store...whatever!

Not there yet, but I don't plan to in front of DH's male friends or his family, especially the men. I have way too much going on, so I'm already concerned lol. I like privacy anyways, so will likely prefer excusing myself (especially for a moment of quiet!)

I was pretty much okay nursing anywhere, even a bathroom (clean, with a stool). At my inlaws I went into another room because my nephew was around.
