This started with a welt on his thigh about three hours ago. He had a little bit of a different formula but it has been mixed with his regular formula for a few days now. He did have bananas today but has had them 3-4 times before. Had peaches for the first time last night (about 20 hours before this redness appeared).

I did talk to the on-call nurse they suggested we wait to see our pediatrician in the morning. I am on my way to get Benadryl because we didn't have any. He seems to be acting okay.

I don't know though. My LO had an allergic rash reaction to avocados and the rash was more splotchy than that seems to be. But I'm sure there are various sorts of rashes. It really freaked me out because it was her first major rash but then I realized that if she wasn't having respiratory issues she was fine. Hope you can get some answers from the ped tomorrow!

Hmm yeah an allergic reaction is usually more raised and splotchy. This seems almost like, idk. Is it warm? My sons booty has gotten a little red in the bath from warm water, but just his bum where he was sitting.

It is all over his arms, legs and bottom. It does feel a little warm.

My LOs reactions have all been splotchy but I'm sure there are lots of kinds. I can't really see the welt but could it be a reaction to a bug bite? Benedryl would probably help with that too.

It doesn't look like an allergy rash to me, but may be a reaction to something? Have you used a new lotion or wash on LO? Any new cosmetics you've used on yourself? New detergent?
Eta: does LO have a fever?

Have you tried new diapers recently? Our LO had something similar when we tried a different brand of nighttime diapers... that said, his spread further on his body and we took him to the doctor. They couldn't figure out what was causing it, recommended benadryl, and it went away after a couple days and hasn't been back. We did stop using the diapers though because they were the only "new" thing within the days leading up to the rash.
We were told not to worry too much if he didn't seem uncomfortable, and it wasn't near his neck, mouth, face.

Gave him Benadryl and it already seems a little better. I guess we will wait to see the Dr. tomorrow. Thank you all!!!
We haven't tried any new lotion, washes, diapers, etc. unless something got mixed up at daycare.

@kentuckygirl: I'm glad the Benadryl helped and that's a good reminder that we should keep some on hand. Hope you get some answers tomorrow and M is feeling better!

I agree that it looks more like a contact issue. I had a chemical type burn like that once. It went away wen I washed it all off. Hope you find an answer! (I think it was from a cleanser on a tanning bed.)

Sorry for the lack of update. We just went to the Dr. yesterday instead if Saturday. He seemed better Sat but had more issues Sunday. The Dr. said it was hives, probably caused by a virus. We are supposed to treat with Benadryl and come back if he worsens or the hives last more than 2 weeks .
