Today I noticed my left breast is extremely hard. The entire top portion and now it hurts really bad! My nipple is also red and it hurts when DS nurses, but he Is teething so i thought the nipple pain was from that. I've been pumping, massaging etc. I was thinking of going to urgent care but they are closed already. I don't really want to go to the ER if I don't need too. We also have company coming over soon 
Any ideas as to what this could be?

Sounds more like a clogged duct or mastitis rather than thrush, as far as I know, thrush doesn't make the breast hard.
You could try dangle nursing or nursing with lo's chin towards the blockage to help clear it.
Look after yourself and hope it feels better soon!

If it was mastitis you'd have a fever and feel sick over all. Sounds like a clogged duct. Warm compresses, massage, and nurse as much as possible!

@Navy_Mommy: that's what I thought. I felt like crap last night but I think it was something I ate. And no fever! It just feels like the entire breast is clogged is why I was so confused!

@MamaJ: clogged ducts are no joke, it can eff up your whole boob. If you can get a warm shower try hand expressing in there.

Sounds like a clogged duct. It does make the nipple hurt if it is really clogged. Try to see if there is a blockage at the nipple - like a tiny white spot that you might be able to pick at. If you can open that up, milk will come spraying out and then use a warm compress, nurse, massage.

Yes sounds like a clogged duct but get it out or it can turn into mastitis. I did have both. You'd know if it was mastitis as you get a sudden high fever. You feel like you have the flu.

When I had a clogged duct I kept a rice file sock in my bra that I heated in the microwave ! Feel better !

Sounds like a clogged duct to me too. I second @Coacheswife123: fill a sock with rice, tie it at the top, and microwave it for 30-45 seconds or so, and it is the best hot compress - it retains the heat really well!
