So.freaking.slow! LO is almost 7 weeks and usually takes about 30 minutes on one side.

Once my milk came in she was super fast (first 4 weeks).. I think it was because my milk came out so fast. She would be done in 5 minutes.. and only one breast.
Now, I bottle feed her b/c I can't stand to watch her choke on milk multiple times.

Super fast! One side fills him in 5-10 minutes. I used to worry he didn't eat long enough but he's 90th percentile so he must be getting enough!

Really fast. She is 7 weeks and up until last week had been averaging 7-8 minutes. This week she's down to 5-6 minutes on average, faster or slower depending on how full I am. This is one thing I hate about BF'g. Like @LaineysMom:, I hate watching her choke because the milk comes out so fast. Poor girl pops off for a break after my letdown and she gets a milk facial.

Fast! Deepen on his mood but if he gets down to business like at night when he's sleepy it's about eight minutes on one side. Jr just slept his first six hour stretch and I thought he'd d starving but he passed back out after that short time!

Fast, she takes 5-10 minutes on one side. She usually takes just 1 side but occasionally 2.

I think I may have over active let down because she's done in 5 - 7 mins. Gaining weight well so I'm trying not to worry about it.

@SLR: mine, too! I feel so bad for her as she gets sprayed with milk!

@MamaMoose: that does sound slow for 7 weeks. she must be on your boob all day! do you also give her the other side?
@LaineysMom: @Beyond2: @scg00387: @travelgirl1: do you all pump the other side if LO only takes one?

Super fast. Until she was about 3 months she only ate on one side and took about 5-7 minutes to finish. Now she eats both sides, but 7-10 minutes per side.

@Andrea: nope way too lazy. I always offer the other and sometimes he'll take it otherwise I let it ride. I do try to pump after first morning feeding on the weekends for errands but that's usually it.

9 months, both breasts and can finish in around 20 minutes combined. Sometimes faster. He's def. more efficient now that he's older.
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
@Andrea: nope. She tends to over eat so I usually don't offer the other side. Sometimes towards the end of the day when my supply is lower we'll do 15 minutes each side instead of 30 on one.

@Andrea: sometimes, if it's engorged, but rather than set up my Freestyle I'll just get a bottle and hand express into it while A is in her bouncy chair and I'm playing with her. Multi tasking

She started out slow but is much faster now. And I always offer both sides, because one of my bewbs produces more than the other.

Fast. He's almost 13 weeks and usually only takes one side for 5-8 minutes.
persimmon / 1026 posts
He was slow when first born - would take 40 minutes to eat, 20 minutes on each boob. Then as he got older he went down to 30 minutes and then finally around 4 months, he was down to 20 minutes total, 10 minutes on each side.
clementine / 916 posts
@SLR: that's how it was for me too! I used to have to completely clean her face and neck after every feeding. I would hold a breast pad or towel in one hand so that I could catch the spray when she came off..
@Andrea: I would sometimes if I couldn't wait til the next feeding. Sometimes I would just hand express a little bit to alleviate my poor boob. That's something that I def. don't mss about ebf.. Feeling lopsided.

Slooooooooow. I spent about 5-8 hours nursing her until about three or four month. Now at 16 months she can be faster but loves to linger.

7 months. Super fast! It takes her less than 10 minutes to eat.

Very slow! At 12 weeks he sometimes nurses for an hour total each time (30 minutes on each side). The best he'll do is 15 minutes each side. I don't know if he's slow or just a super hungry guy!
pear / 1517 posts
@Andrea: not usually. I pump the side he doesn't eat first thing in the morning and get 8-12 ounces. He eats his first and second feeding of the day from the other breast because there is so much milk from over night. The remainder of the day I just switch back and forth between sides, one per feeding.

She is 10 months old and she is fast when she is focused but such a scatterbrain these days.......
Lately she does this thing where she wants to switch sides over and over. 10 seconds on the right side, pops off, smiles at me, looks over "oooo left side!!!" 10 seconds on the left side.... repeat. Soooo Annoying.

@prettylizy: Baby might be trying to get more foremilk by doing the side switching thing?
LO is twelve weeks old and usually nurses for between five and ten minutes per side depending on how much comfort sucking I let her do. During her night feedings I can feed both sides, change her, use the bathroom myself and be back in bed within thirty minutes
GOLD / papaya / 10206 posts
@Kemma: I think it's just a game at this point. She just keeps smiling and laughing and goofing around in between.
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
Harper takes FOREVER bc she likes to take breaks but stays latched. If I move or say anything, she starts sucking again. I started saying "You're going to get in big trouble if you don't eat" and she'll hurry up and start sucking:). She usually takes about 30-40 mins per feeding...She's almost 6 weeks:)

He's 5 months, and sort of both? When he gets down the business of eating he's done in 5-10 minutes. But a lot of the time, especially before naps and bed he comfort nurses to sleep. I can feel the difference...a light occasional suckling as opposed to swallowing...and that can go on closer to half an hour (especially right before bed).
During the day he gets one boob at a time, and I alternate between feedings. At night he (usually) gets both.

olive was super slow... would nurse over an hour the first 2 months. even as she got older she was a slow nurser, taking 15 minutes+. Now at 15 months she takes about 10 minutes, but can nurse very long at bedtime (20 minutes+).
