Our current day care center is really great… they focus on loving our kids and providing them with a safe fun place to spend each day. They do lots of activities: painting, drawing, and reading books… and they also help the kids learn the alphabets and their numbers. But the focus is more on nurturing then on educating.

As the kids get older though, childcare centers seem to shift in focus. We visited a friend's daycare the other day and the focus was much more on education. I was really impressed, but at the same time I can't help but think of how my own upbringing did not have nearly this much educational focus. No wonder so many kids are so advanced by the time they start kindergarten!

Is your childcare more focused on education or nurturing? How old is your child?
