I have created a little monster. When Olive wakes up in the middle of the night (she was only sleeping through for a brief while alas), she wants to breastfeed but she's not hungry because she's not taking a full feeding. she pretty much knocks out as soon as my boob is in her mouth.
i'm going to have to wean her off of using me as a pacifier! anyone else's lo addicted to your boob?

I would start the paci soon before she realizes the difference! I know LO wouldn't be fooled if I tried it now.

I started using bottles early because I had to supplement with formula for a few days. My LO seems to like boobies and bottles of pumped milk the same now!

Yes! My LO will only go down for a nap with a boob in mouth. So annoying!!

Yep! Mine too - Almost as soon as she's on the boob, she's out. I'm getting worried that she's not eating enough because she'll knock out mid-feeding.
I've been unlatching her and putting the pacifier in her mouth, but still holding her up against my boob. She'll fall asleep, but it doesn't seem to knock her out like the boob does.

Pretty much. Baby Y went down at 7 and he just woke up and is whining now. I'll probably end up feeding him to make sure he goes back to sleep. Bad habit, I know

yes, LO is 8 months and a total boob addict too... nothing else replaces momma.

Yep, she is and she's already eating 3 full meals a day, with snacks. "Muh-muh" she demands, with her hand in my personal milk/cookies jar.

@BabyBoecksMom: When did you first introduce the pacifier? and what brand do you use? I just recently bought Avent's green soothie pacifiers but have been hesitant to introduce it because I'm afraid my LO (3 weeks old) will have nipple confusion. But at the same time, he's been fussier (even after feeding and diaper change) and seems to calm the best with the boob!

When LO was little (up until 4 months), my boob was the only thing that could get her to fall asleep. But after sleep-training, she realized she had her own "boob" (ie. her thumb)...So it's all good!

@enjollah: We introduced the pacifier when she was 2 days old. We were going to use the soothies too, and brought one with us to the hospital, but she actually preferred the one from the hospital (that they use in the NICU). It's the same shape, but it's darker green and it's a little softer than the Advent one. I think they're only sold in hospitals though.
We never had problem with nipple confusion - she goes between breast, bottle and paci with no problems. It's all the same sucking motion to her

@babyboecksmom - what bottles do you use? We started trying to do one bottle a day so LO will take it and I'm just curious what other momma's use.
